There is excellent Taiwanese teaware available, including gaiwans and Yixing-type gong fu pots, and Taiwan's record for safety is very good.mayayo wrote:Basically we are adrenaline junkies for using Chinese teaware, aren't we?![]()
What to do then? Stop drinking tea?

I was thinking of Chinese Yixings. However Taiwanse also make toxic teapots usually sold at night markets and worth $2. Good for holding stationary.

Re: Green clay yixing toxic?
hmmm just to conclude my contribution about the green clay teapot - the funny smell is totally gone, in its place is a fragrant tky smell. The pot is very beautiful with a lovely shine.
The shop allowed me to exchange it for another after viewing the condition.
It was with reluctance that i let it go. It's technical quality is excellent - i have yet to come across another like it - smooth pour, non-drip, etc. Also i understand that it was a showcase piece from Zhu Dan's exhibition in 2002 which was thereafter kept in the storeroom all these years. It came with a set of four teacups.

Re: Green clay yixing toxic?
First, I will say Green clay yixing is not toxic. If it has additives, it won't be natual clay, but not toxic since the extremly high temperature can cause a chemical reaction. So dont worry about that, you can use this teapot, but it isn't a natual yixing clay.
Second, natural green clay is quite rare these years, that's why all the green clay teapots in my online teapot shop are out of stock since a long time ago. By the way, this clay is quite expensive now.
Finally, not all the green clay is fake or add additives, but this clay, as I mentioned, is quite rare. So I don't suggest buying this kind of green zisha teapot.
Hope that will be helpful!

....untill you realise you're not holding a xi shi. And you are in fact holding a pair of women's breasts. At which point you could comment on what a lovely resemblance to a pair xi shi teapots they are.......
Although personally I've had no luck with that line.

You mean the line: "I saw a teapot of that shape"Zensuji wrote: ....untill you realise you're not holding a xi shi. And you are in fact holding a pair of women's breasts. At which point you could comment on what a lovely resemblance to a pair xi shi teapots they are.......

I believe you could be right. I saw a teapot that is quite curvy and of a delicate sensuous shape.ajiaojiao wrote:I make the yixing teapot .I think it is possible. This clay is little .

I must emphasize: you can admire one teapot but it is better to admire two breasts.

- Clay type (zhu ni, hong ni, zi ni, duan ni, zisha, etc.) Low/Med/High fired?
- Size of pot in ml or oz.
- What year/decade the pot was made.
- If the pot is thin-walled, medium, or thick-walled.
- How long is the pour?
- Where you acquired the pot.
- What type of tea you make with it.
- What qualities the pot has on tea. i.e. Why do you like to brew a certain tea in it, and what does it do for that tea?
