Re: EOT 2011 Cakes
I just broke down and ordered one Bulang and two Nannou. Even though I havn't got my samples yet.
I checked and there was only7 Bulangs left. well at least when I tried to order eight cakes it said they didnt have that amount in stock(not sure how accurate that is?).
I didn't wanna get completly skunked on EOT cakes this year. I'm sure I won't be disapointed.

I wish I could help you out on the Mannuo, but I've been spending way too much on tea stuff in the last two months, and I "only" had enough to get 1 of each beeng. Still very painful to the wallet.
But... they all smell spectacular. It's going to be hard to cram in all that tea tasting... hard, but not impossible.

Well, then "unofficial market" then.the_skua wrote:Why is it a black market? It's a perfectly legal product to sell between individuals and, in fact, we frequently see aged tea show up for astounding prices.apache wrote:There might be a secondary market (a.k.a black market) for the Mannuo...
I will agree that it's a shame if wealthy-enough individuals buy up most of what's available only to flip it. Good tea should be shared.
May be next year Nada should have a ballot systems for selling cakes like how they sell 2012 Olympic game tickets in the UK. Over subscript items will be decided by lottery .

What is "REASONABLE" increase? x1.5? x2? x4?David R. wrote:Let us know if you have any luck...gasninja wrote:Just putting it out their if anyone does have a manou that they would like sell at cost or a REASONABLE increase PM me.

I also want to know if you have any luck.

Yes, if you do have any luck, let us know, because then we'll be able to calculate the "Hobbes Factor"...apache wrote:What is "REASONABLE" increase? x1.5? x2? x4?David R. wrote:Let us know if you have any luck...gasninja wrote:Just putting it out their if anyone does have a manou that they would like sell at cost or a REASONABLE increase PM me.

Re: EOT 2011 Cakes
There are still some excellent 2010 teas for sale at considerably lower prices. All are tong-worthy!
I spend the vast majority of my tea budget on Nada Cha. I feel that he is presently offering the best quality puerh tea available to Western consumers.
The rapid selling out of his tea and these anecdotal reports of secondary market values suggests that he is still underpriced and that demand greatly exceeds supply. Stock up now.

Is it just me or does the 2011 Mansai taste like jerky or bacon? It seems a bit smokey again this year but in a more subtle way. Maybe the "meat flavor" is the umami of the tea. There was something about the 2010 that disagreed with me although I couldn't quite put my finger on it. I find this similar in some respects but superior in others as well as superior overall.

I was about to taste one of the samples when I read your comment, so I picked the Mansai to try out.TokyoB wrote:Is it just me or does the 2011 Mansai taste like jerky or bacon? It reminds me in part of the Xia Guan type of taste, but instead of being heavy on the smokiness/savory quality, that fades really quickly into a nice hui gan that's all over... but, this is just the first cup. I like it so far...!
Re: EOT 2011 Cakes
I have not tried the tea you're talking about (and I've been a vegetarian for more than half my life, so admittedly it's been a while), but I do taste pu'er occasionally that reminds me of smoked meats.TokyoB wrote:Is it just me or does the 2011 Mansai taste like jerky or bacon? C'mon. Isn't anyone trying these teas?
Today I had the Mannuo for a second time. I have to admit that, contrary to some good reviews, this tea doesn't do much for me. I find it non-descript in flavor and complexity. The qi is rather nice though I will say. Even if I could order this tea I would not. Either I have no ability to appreciate puerh to the same degree as some or we all experience teas rather differently. Of course both could be true!
My first experience with the Nannuo was better. I will try that again soon. I still have samples of the Mansai and Bulang to try again.
Anyone else?

Re: EOT 2011 Cakes
My third try with the Mannuo was mostly like my first, and wasn't as good as my second try. Having said that, this tea still holds my attention very well. There is a lot of activity in the mouth as well as flavors. I do note that there is a kind of water taste in the middle there somewheres, but it has never been bothersome to me, and I anticipate that to fill out.
Trying the '11 Bulang now...So far, not dead.

Re: EOT 2011 Cakes
My 2011 EoT tea arrived safe and sound at 8:32 this morning. Love watching it to the door on the tracker!
I forgot to get samples. Is it a mortal sin to wait to try these? I have so much open tea...
Nada said he prefers the Nannuo over the Mannuo, fwiw.
I'm still considering tonging up on the 2010 Bangwai, too. Good tea!
