It's a very thin-walled gaiwan, not quite as thin as the large TTG gaiwan, but comes tantalizingly close. It's a crisp, snow white, with nearly the same translucent quality as the TTG large. Big and roomy, with an imperfectly fitting (off-set) lid. This is to expected, and in light of previous explanations, even desirable. At any rate, the TTG gaiwans had the same lid characteristic.
The upper flare of the bowl isn't conducive to over-filling. So keep that in mind in order to avoid burnt fingers, though I don't mind it at all - it's a nice look.
It's got a little more heft to it than the TTG large did. But it feels reassuring, and the gaiwan is nicely balanced. It handles beautifully.
All in all, if you miss the TTG large gaiwan, this thin and shapely beauty from Red Blossom Tea is the vessel to get. I might just grab a couple more, in fact.
