Hey! That was an innocent enough response! I could have said something about the argument in favor of 4 year olds picking cotton...erm, I mean... tea.

When I saw his TD post, I was expecting to have to physically restrain our SS, not the ITD secret service, I meant SpaceSamurai. But Alex appeared to take it in stride, though I suspect a little increase on blood pressure.

You were a model of restraint ... but methinks just putting in an appearance will have a salubrious effect.

Yes, Chip, there's one man who has really mellowed out!

SS: Good, measured response. Very effective.

you guys.... I was only suprised by Britt's response given how often he has criticised China and its policies. The fact that he thumbs his nose at an organisation that is trying to help, suggests to me that the guy really is just an asshole and better left alone.

I do feel kind of bad, though. This topic has sort of killed TedDay today. Friday night and only 2 pages of comments. Perhaps it is too serious a topic for what is more often a place for light conversation, or that this topic in particular left people without much to say.

Coming out in favor of child labor is just one step below endorsing the Nazis. I'm not surprised it murdered light conversation. I *am* surprised that we've not ended up with a wee little flame war.

Sigh...all this popcorn and no reason to eat it.

TBH, I knew it would be a tough subject, and definitely not a record posting day. But I felt it was also a very worthy topic that would reach a lot of readers anyway. I have no regrets, Space, and I hope you don't either.

Unfortunately, the subject can make people uncomfortable and hard to discuss. But if there is some learning along the way ...

So, you are voting no for his ITD membership? When is this vote over anyway.

Yeah, strange how he selects what he will walk tall over. Kind of like, screw communism, but screw possible reform too that you never know where it could lead.

Geez, Mary, if you want a flame war, I'll just consider this thread as an official sanction. Like James Bond. Queen Mary has given me a license to burn.

The slow day on TeaChat is the culprit, not the topic. It's not just TeaDay, Space, the whole forum has been very quiet today. The pu threads have been all but dead, and most of those guys never even visit TeaDay.

I think the slow day has inhibited a very important topic, rather than vice versa. But the word is out, and I know I went from not thinking about it to greater consciousness. I would like to see a resurrected version of the topic again in a month or so.

I think it is reasonable to start from the premise that almost everyone (except Britt) wants things to be better.

Course, there's people like Mary and me who just want to see a fight!

Poor Pen, he is missing out on so much. *shakes head in sympathy*

On the bright side, his French has gotten pretty amazing:
