Here is Cleopatra over by the shed. I didn't choose the name but it fits if you knew her: Most demanding cat ever.

I am partial to dogs, but I grew quite fond of this cat, with whom I lived for 5 months out in Oregon. She won me over to the feline species...

She doesn't really have a name, other than "Kitty." She belongs to my very-cool-and-slightly-contrarian Aunt Kassia, an artist/musician/academic in Eugene Oregon, who told me, in characteristic style, 'while trying to decide on a name, we just started calling her "Kitty," and it stuck.' Image

Some very adorable kittehs on this thread! (And they are probably pulling the thread apart, as we speak, with their adorable little paws  )

Sadly, we don't have any cats. However I do have a small Japanese bowl (inexpensive tea cup? rice bowl for a child?) that includes a couple of cats. I'm ridiculously fond of it:

Detail of one of the two hopeful cats:

And here's a close-up of the housewife with a large fish on the platter (looks like she's kneeling to give it to the cats, perhaps!). She's hoicked up her kimono sleeves with tasuki cords so that they don't get dirty from housework:

Japanese pop culture, fifties style. Gotta love it!
