Kudos to YSLLC! I received a shipment from Scott that would have been destroyed if not for his very, very careful packing. The box was crushed in, but no damage done to a tong, a bunch of Pu samples, the "DHP" Yixing tea pot or the other tea paraphenalia. And it arrived SAL in less than three weeks!

Because the main currency that Scott deals with is USD, no matter where you see the store in the world (be it a Hong Kong eBay, Japanese eBay, etc.) it will always display prices in USD first, then right underneath it will show you the price in your native currency.Salsero wrote:Someone finally sprang for the YNS braided! Great. And (predicatably) a Mengku cake. That looks like a lot of tips!
I didn't know there was a whole ebay for Canada! Why bother, the prices are still in $US?
Also, yes I'm very interested in hearing your thoughts on the YNS braided and that Mengku (almost pure) tippy cake! I'd love to hear if that Mengku cake is as astringent as other tippy cakes I've had.

i shall post my happy reviews here soon enough.
i have an affinity for anything strange and out of the ordinary such as these cakes. props to scott for making his own tea/brand and for stocking these mengku cakes that are really technically speaking, side projects by mengku shuangjiang.
i also have this :
2008 * Wild Tree Raw Pu-erh tea brick of Dehong * 500g
http://cgi.ebay.ca/2008-Wild-Tree-Raw-P ... dZViewItem
i have not tried it yet, looks gorgeous. i want to wait a bit before i hammer this cake to pieces.
here is a write up by mr. wilson about this brick :
2008 * Wild Tree Raw Pu-erh tea brick of Dehong * 500 grams
Purple Leaf varietal
An incredibly fantastic raw Pu-erh made from Pu-erh tree leaves that have a purplish tinge when picked. The resulting brick is darker. The quality of the leaves and the meticulous processing ensures excellent storage and aging potential. At the same time, it is one the best 2008 raw Pu-erhs to drink. The infused liquor is golden and is almost completely without bitterness. CLARITY, CLARITY, CLARITY!
This tea brick is composed of entirely spring 2008 raw material from the exact same area as the 2005 production. This year Yunnan Sourcing is proud to be the exclusive producer and distributor of this very special tea! We have produced exactly 460 bricks in total!
Producer: Yunnan Sourcing
Vintage: Spring 2008
Production area: North-western area of Dehong county

Latest recommendations from Scott at Yunnan Sourcing:
As you know all the teas I carry I in some way or another recommend. that being said I really like these newer teas:
2008 Menghai "Classic" Premium Raw tea cake * 357g - my favorite Da Yi raw tea of this year. It shows all the right traits of what will be a long-term aged classic cake
2003 Langhe "Green Mark" Ripe Pu-erh Tea cake * 357g - affordable and really excellent ripe tea.
2003 CNNP "Yi Wu High Mountain Wild Arbor" Raw Pu-erh - classic pure Yi Wu... aged a bit. Mellow and full
2008 Guoyan "Queen of Yi Wu" Premium Raw Pu-erh tea - great pure yi wu with a large content of wild arbor leaves.
2008 Early Spring "Raw Melon" of Dehong Raw Pu-erh tea - not a typical Dehong wild type. This is a high quality high altitude tea processed in small batches.
