photo 4, photo 5 from the venerable mr. s. erler.
photo 6, photo 7 from a new found toronto source. photo 7 is a very fast pourer, my speed demon of all pots. these pots are around the 130 to 140 ml variety.
the two xi shi ones are both 140 ml in volumes. note the strange flattened ball filter.
here also i present my tea set up for gong fu cha sessions. i have tried tea trays but i feel the use of bowls and dishes are more soothing for my eyes. i really do. all the trays/bowls/whatever were on sale. nothing cost more than 6.99 canadian.

that rectangular blue thing? got that for 6.99, on sale. the same for that orange water bowl thing.Salsero wrote:I like your teaboat. All the pots are, of course, magnificent.
for torontonians, go to this store called ONE. it's inside market village. tons and tons and tons of japanese pottery ware.
My Newbie colllection is growing
- I got the teaware at a thrift store today. Fair cup (?) 50 cents, little blue teacup with green lip 25 cents, larger blue cup ( matcha maybe?feels so great in the hand) $1.00 and the tray was $1.00. Spent my money on tea from Seven Cups
which I will post about later.

Everything is nice, but I was referring to the wide, shallow bowl that the pot sits in. Such things are sometimes called teaboats -- I don't know why, it doesn't make any sense. It may be more of an oolong term. There are also some things people put inside the bowl to elevate the pot so it doesn't sit in the water.heavydoom wrote:that rectangular blue thing?Salsero wrote:I like your teaboat.
In any event, it's a cool setup, remote, apple core and all!
Is it ok i think its ugly when you got it so cheap?Rainy wrote:I got the teaware at a thrift store today. i had been looking for a bowl with that raised island thing in the middle but then i thought, why don't i just use the perfect soup bowl for this? i found this bowl to be the perfect dimension, not too deep, not too large, just perfect for one pot. when significant water collects in the bowl, i just dump the water into that orange urn thing.
as you can see from the pic, i am using my old tea tray as a tray for my pots to dry on.
