I'm beginning to wonder if I just drink tea so that I can buy new teaware.

This week's expeditions included a stop at Ito En. Their online catalogue does not do justice to the selection in the store. The two yunomi and the yuzamashi are both from their shop. The tray is also new, and works well with my assorted dark and light wood furniture.

I think I am going to return the yuzamashi. Why do I love the look of things without handles? It's not easy to hold it from the top when it has 200 ml of hot water in it.
Oh, and now I'm looking for a kyuusu. Again. The rustic, artisan quality of these pieces makes mine look shabby and mass-produced. They look OK with the green tetsubin, but it is too large to make two tiny cups worth of tea.
I guess Ito En is going to see my 'pocket money' again next week.

Why not show off my cheap tea ware....
I like me tea in mass quantities, so the Yixings are rather large 9-12oz and the Mikasa cups are 6oz.
With the rest of the family:
Close up with the newest addition:

Damn! Have I missed out on some awesome teaware or what? The recent crop of pics is amazing. Now I'm wondering if I should splurge on an agate cup...but I have so many nice cups already...must...not...succumb...
Trioxin, I love the matching black tea tins. Where did you get them?

Not cheap at all! Actually it's a lovely family. What are the four puerh bings? And where does your new hand piercing device come from?

Thanks. The Smaller flat back tins came from rishi-tea.com. Unfortunately they haven't been in stock for a while now. The taller gloss black tins, which I really like, are a recent purchase from enjoyingtea.com. They run a whole $3.00 a piece.

The cakes are:
2 x 2006 Xiaguan Famous Iron Cake 8613
2006 Ancient Tea Mountain Co "Long Yuan Hao" Gold Medal Wild Ancient Tea Tree
2006 Yunhai Yongxin Tea Co. Ancient Tree Yinhao (Silver Hair) "Bai Zhen Jin Lian"
The Pu-erh knife, more commonly known as a brass letter opener, came off ebay. Here's a pic of what it looked like before sanding and polishing.

Those Rishi tins are great-- I have a couple, and they do their job very well. I envy the uniformity of your tins, trioxin!
Oh, also, how do the enjoyingtea.com tins work? Are they double-lidded like Rishi's?

You can get a mostly intact black tin just like that by taking your empty rishi tin, scoring it with a sharp knife, and peeling off the label.

Almost didn't see the question. The enjoyingtea.com tins have a lid that sinks into the canister about 1 inch sealing it. It actually seals it better than the double lidded ones from rishi. Maybe later tonight I'll post a picture.

This may be my favorite thread on TeaChat! I love looking at everyone's teawares and it makes me anxious to start my collection once I return home for the summer. The ingenuiTEA isn't that pretty a teapot, though it is functional.
