Above my price threshold for now. Need to recover from the teaware spree.

Hm, if you're worried about the price of matcha here's a few more "cost friendly" ones.
Lupicia has 3 different ones that I haven't tried yet, picked em up last time I was there, but haven't tried it yet. (~10-15/20g)
Tao of Tea has 3oz for 17.50 or so, i picked that up recently too, but i'm not expecting much from that much matcha for that price. I figure i'll use it for mixing.
Do Matcha tends to be an acceptable price, haven't tried it yet.
If you want I'll pop open one of the Lupicia's and let you know how it is (although i won't pop all 3 at the same time, matcha ages FAST)

LOL, say what you will, but no other vendor has yet to top them in my book. (especially the in store feeling)

I am feeling empathy with that notion of in store feeling. Ito En was a really amazing experience...and thinking of your comment makes me want to experience the real thing, like in Kyoto...or even the lesser know areas...not a new thought.

What percentage of your acquisitions over the last year are you actually using?
Some of my teaware acquisitions are used only once in a while, but I am trying to use them all.
Tuesday (and monday as well) I was not home and had only a few teas. Some karigane sencha (Ostuusan teabags by Tsuen) and a decent Darjeeling.

LOL! speaking of, I picked up a gorgeous chawan bowl last night on Etsy. My first! Now all I have to do is get some matcha that is better than the last one I had.

Please share photos! I'd love to see it.
P.S. Etsy is my secret vice

Vendor photos. It's a shino glaze, very copper red I hope, if his image colors are accurate.
I really liked the symmetry, the lovely glaze, and it has a very sweet foot. I really AM using a ceramic dog bowl for matcha, because it was the only one in the house that had the right shape AND was smooth on the bottom so it didn't tear up my chasen.
There's another one on Etsy that I suspect I'm going to regret if I don't pick it up. Ha! I'll post that one if I decide to buy it.

Maiko has some very reasonably priced matcha and if you
opt for the slowest mailing (which they make you go a bit out of your way to choose) the shipping is quite reasonable and still pretty speedy. I have had their
Maccha "Kyo Mukashi" which is very tasty.
I personally don't believe it is good to start out with the best of the best with anything. You will not appreciate it because you have nothing to compare it to. Besides, I don't think I could ever bring myself to spend so much money on a little matcha as what the O-Cha
Uji Matcha Manten costs. I mean, it's just tea!

I like the bowl, Geekgirl. Looks like an excellent choice.

Wow, Fred's stuff is awesome. Thanks for posting the link!
Maybe we should plan a bank heist so we can buy all the stuff we "need!"
