Yes- without getting too hocus pocus, I will contend that the making and drinking of tea is part physical, part mental, part spiritual (whatever that means). Very Zen... But also very pleasing to the senses.

The Samurai knew of this truth, and they were tough cookies Image

I will also say that finding other people who actually appreciate good tea (here) is great, and at least Stateside, a rarity rarely afforded without the internet.. I think I've encountered one (one!) individual in my non-internet-life who actually appreciates Tea like I do... not counting vendors and the Urasenke Tea Master...

I quite like having a quiet, private corner of the internet to chat about all things tea and teachat related. As long as trolls and hugely unpleasant people are not invited then I'm not too fussed about what goes on here.

Inane banter, serious tea talk, tastings or meta-dissection are all good with me. If the place moves more towards one than another for a bit I'm not going to get too flustered. If we run out of serious tea talk and start posting silly gif's for a while then it's far better than dead time.

Obviously if it wasn't populated by a bunch of mad people extolling the virtues of Japanese greens things would be better, but I can't have everything.

On a less serious note, the tastings are always fun. I just enjoy getting mail that isn't a bill!

You're really asking for it, but sadly I couldn't find a gif of "What What (In the Butt)." Anybody want to make one?

I did say I'm not too fussed about what goes on here but the search for the gayest gif on the internet does fuss me a little.

I second everything Proinsias says, mostly because I'm too lazy to say it for myself

I love all of the above, especially the meta-snarking and the monthly tea tasting! That part is absolutely bonza. (By the way, there's no sign of July's Georgian tea yet. Or did I forget to sign up for it?)

Mind you, I haven't been here long enough to have a sense of what ITD "should be" or "used to be"... but I think what we have here is pretty damn nice.

If you did forget, I'd be happy to share what I have left, there should be enough for a 2-3 cups left.

Hrm. I sent your tea at the same time I sent everyone else's. I know for a fact it made it to the post office because the really chatty clerk called everyone over to see all three of my international packages and couldn't stop cooing over "France, Scotland, and Canada! Oh my!" (There isn't an eyeroll emoticon big enough.)

I do still have plenty of Georgian, though, so I can try again if you want. And add package tracking. :)

That's fine, Mary... let's give it an extra few days. The packet has to get through Customs, so we should allow another week for that alone. I just needed to be reassured that it was en route :)

If it never appears, though, I may consider your offer - and Space Samurai's. Thank you both for your kindness.
