Yunnan Gold this morning, a lot of to-dos and then a had a little Golden Spring (coming soon) with a moon cake. Yum!
I could not even read what Golden Spring is on the site. So, what is it?

"A delicate black tea from Fujian Province harvested early in the Spring. The leaves are panfried and hand-rolled, capturing a fresh, sweet flavor unique to the season. Downy golden curled buds are interspersed throughout this majestic tea evoking visual color-play between gold and black. The heady aroma of both the dried and infused leaves has a distinct savory-sweet note that transcends richly into the cup. A decadent, almost "meaty" aftertaste makes for a very satisfying umami-sweet experience."
Teh yummeh...

It's a black pi lo chun.

This morning's 1st cup was Milk Scented Orchid Oolong, with the 2nd steep over ice. An o.k. tea but not as special as its price would indicate, so I reach for it in the cupboard only occasionally. One of these days it'll be gone and I can replace it with something fresher tasting.
At a luncheon today (this is my day off, so I got to be "one of the ladies who lunch"

) , hostess served a pot of Luzianne, which I like with food b/c it's smooth although rather plain. But then there was Peach Passion and I had to make myself stop after 2 cups - peach is my favorite flavor!
I haven't estimated yet how much teamoney will be spent this year. I've gotten better at telling myself "no", but there are nearly 4 months left to 2008! (That "no", by the way, has applied to little else than new teas.)
"Top off the tea... it lubricates the grey matter."

This afternoon I am drinking:
Milky Gold-Mingjian Spring Oolong from Lupicia.
From Nantou, Taiwan
A little too fermented for my taste.
It's - ok.

Pshaw! If I used that as the criteria for when to go home, I'd never be at work!
I really do need to bring tea with me to work. I brought my electric kettle, but I'm just not forward thinking enough to measure out tea in the morning to bring. I'm lucky that I manage to brew my morning tea. (Not really a morning person). I could leave it in my desk, but everyone and their brother goes through it so it is hard to have personal stuff kept there. Maybe one day I'll figure out a solution. Like a large lock box...

Not that I would have personal knowledge of this.
Uh oh. Chip, is there something you need to share with the rest of the class?
Pentox wrote:In prison all they serve you is guri.
I had some of Den's guricha and really enjoyed it. If I could get that in prison, I reckon I could cope! Nah, I'd need to have some oolong mixed in there. Any oolong served in prison?

I'm drinking some '94 tie guan yin from Hou De. It's alright, not my favorite though, and quite sour if you oversteep it.

You are right! I voted 1, but i am more like 7!!!

I would say close to a thousand. Japanese tea is not really so expensive, unless you start getting into premo gyokuro and matcha. Plus 5 steeps. And smaller steeps help as well. I just finally ordered the new Chiran YM and the Yame Gyokuro from O-Cha. Both seem to be EXCELLENT VALUES.
A good TeaDay so far. Adagio Nepal FF which is a nice change of pace from the Chinese blacks of late. Just finished Yutaka Midori.
Now, about to brew the new Adagio Ali Shan that just arrived an hour or so ago.

I'm guessing that I may end up spending around $400 this year on loose-leaf teas and matcha ... but does that figure include the shipping or not? Uh-oh. Maybe it will really be closer to $500. Urrr... {skritches head baffledly}
Looking forward to settling down with some Emperor Long Jing a little later. I'm near the end of my visit. It's been good to see my family, but I'm also looking forward to returning home to Bereft Husband.
By the way, today I saw a gaiwan for sale In Real Life for the first time in a tea shop. It was your basic white model. Unfortunately, all three of that model had very ill-fitting lids. Is this typical of that type of gaiwan? I had been tempted to buy one, solely to keep here for use during the occasional family visit, but that idea was quickly scuttled after some experimentation ("air gongfu"). Having used that little crystalline beauty from Eilong, whose lid was a much more secure fit, I may be thoroughly spoilt

I guesstimated $800-$899, but I have a feeling the truth is really 4 figures.

Have no idea how much I've spent & too tired to try adding it up. Quite honestly, I don't know that I
want to know how much I've spent.

It would probably scare me out of buying anymore teas.
I think I remember having Golden Monkey w/bfast this morning. After volunteering at my dtr's school today & out for a family member's bday dinner tonight, that's the only tea I've had.

Must remedy this situation. Off to make some Yutaka Midori.

Well, thinking of how much I've spent in the last year gives me more of an idea of what I can be setting aside for a house down payment.

I'm probably in the 500 - 599 range; around $45 a month. A small price to pay for such a pleasure. Today was sencha fuka-midori - oh my! Anticipating Saturday I see a White Tea day coming on. Pai Mu Tan!

Do you even GET tea in prison? I hear they only serve coffee.
Started the day with Lyon's Gold blend, ended with Oolong #8.
Have a good weekend, everyone!
Although my neighbors are all barbarians,
And you, you are a thousand miles away,
There are always two cups on my table.

I am thinking Silver Needles, just got a sample today from Adagio. Hmmm, white tea Saturday ...
Finished a very good TeaDay with Prison Blend Gyokuro. Actually Yame Gyokuro, if tea was this good in prison, I would rob a bank hoping to get caught.

Just tell me where you bury the money and I'll arrange for you to get hooked up. I'll even supply the Gyokuro.
