Oh wow I wouldn't have guessed that is washi paper w/o you saying so. I figured it was just one of those gold background paintings.

That is a mix of work tea plus my coworkers tea. I usually just bring in what I feel like in my bag to work. I will have to take a shot of my tea and add it to that sometime next week.

For those of us who can't make tea at work ...

by geeber1 » Nov 29th, '08, 11:51

This tea tumbler from TeaSource looks like a nice alternative for people (like me) who don't have the storage space/equipment/brewing space/etc. to make tea at work:

I like that you turn it upside down to brew, then turn it right-side-up to drink, so your leaves aren't sitting in the tea getting bitter. Plus it's stainless steel instead of plastic.

Does anyone out there have this tumbler? If so, how do you like it?

Looks like it might be ok for on the go. Not sure how much room there is for leaves - therefore probably better for small leaf blacks.

I still think I'd opt for a drop in brewing basket.

Good point, Victoria, I didn't notice that the basket was that small.

Are you talking drop-in basket like this?

My problem is that I don't even have hot water at work because it's been polluted with coffee, so I can't even make a cup of tea there. Maybe I should invest in a kettle instead. :)

Yes, that is the exact basket I was talking about. But it seems now, that your real problem is the hot water. Your company won't spring for and electric kettle? Surely others there would like tea, or even to make hot soup or something.

Here are a couple photos of my new "tea space" at work. It's a little industrial, but is going to work great. The metal tray will be gone once I get my wooden one painted and decoupaged. (At the rate I'm moving these days, the metal tray will be there for a while!

I discovered that the cord on my kettle was too short to reach the outlet, so I had to elevate it. I found the drawer thingy at a local store. It's the perfect size to stow away my stuff at the end of the day.

I have some Irish Breakfast, Assam Melody, a couple of Nligiris and Oolongs, and some Jungpana 2nd Flush Darjeeling (which is another one I haven't tried yet.)

I have a gaiwan and thermometer in there also so am going to bring some green teas in also.

It's making my work space seem way more home-y!

I know a lot of people are against microwaving water for tea, but if it means either that or go w/o, then I must. I have a lovely 16oz glass tea pot that has a strainer in the cover so I can still use loose leaf, but w/o the mess of wet leaves dripping all over.
