I only had from Ippodo Wakamatsu (1800Y for 20g shipping costs included) which is quite good (I have so far finished ten tins I guess) and I have an unopend tin of Ummon (4300Y for 40g shipping costs included) in my fridge for which I haven't found time yet to make a compared tasting. I might add some Horai with my next order.GeekgirlUnveiled wrote:It was very good, and for the price I would say it rates an excellent. 600yen for the 20g. I prefer to buy no more than 20-30g in a tin, for freshness.
This one is the Horai, even better. So smooth, like butter, the aroma on opening is like the most delectable french pastry you can imagine, with that kind of buttery, slightly sweet aroma. Wow!
geeber1 wrote:Auggy, maybe you could expense background checks along with pepper spray. Your pastor should be ashamed of himself for putting you in that kind of position. Not a very good shepherd, I would say.auggy wrote:Does anyone know a free way to check people's records myself? The state of Texas has a search but it's costs like $3.00 per search (well, excluding the sex offenders database which is free).
I would definitely expense it out along with the background checks. I do not have paroles working here - HOWEVER - my office is right next door to State Parole. They are lined up outside in the morning and in addition to checking me out - they also know I am alone, since my car is the only one in the parking lot. But I was provided with pepper spray, and I have 911 programmed in on the phone and I have a silent alarm. I just hope they are on their good behavior if they are checking in with parole and would not do something stupid right next door. But you never know, I am always on guard.
In my cup this afternoon, Farmer's Choice Boazhong from FLT.

I use them for little tea gifts! Packs enough of any tea for three or four pots, and non-tea-people don't use more than that anyhow(^^).Salsero wrote:Boy, do I love matcha tins! And I can see all the reasons to love them in your series of photos. Just gorgeous! What do we do with the empty ones?GeekgirlUnveiled wrote: This morning I opened up my second tin of matcha

BTW, do you think one could use a coconut husk for a chawan?

Ha! My vote just tipped the stategic balance towards green tea which now leads the poll by an astonishing 3% over black and oolong teas. Who says one person's vote doesn't count.
Chip, in order to confirm that one vote does indeed count, I would suggest you suspend the poll now while green tea is ahead.
Only the ingestion of a fairly large amount of Yutaka Midori has inspired me to such heights of democratic fervor.

You know, if you were in your RIGHT MIND you would have voted oolong!Chip wrote:Green of course, specifically, Yutaka Midori Classic which is in my cup (shincha) still. It is one of the few teas I could drink every single day!!! So says the left side of my brain which is the crucial half, rational, analytical ...Victoria wrote:Oolong of course.

How about Canadians?
I protest!!
Oy, the Pu Heads have skewed the vote now that they have come into their own!augie wrote:Ditto. Pu Ehr cures everything! Even lonliness.Trioxin wrote:It would have to be Pu-erh. Not only for its taste, but also its medicinal values.
I think there are some oolong defectors among their ranks.
Alas!
Well, if I HAD to choose I guess green would be my choice. Puerh belive it or not would be my next choice because it has such a high caffeine content and good health benefits.
Glad I can have the best of all worlds!
I enjoyed some Ryu-mei gyokuro this morning, some bancha, and then keemun in the afternoon. What a day! I think I need to unwind with some ginger tea now

And Sarah comes to the rescue, tipping the scale for the Oolongians, tying the score with the greens, and securing our longterm position of strength....
Ok, so I voted Oolong.. but actually only after a fairly strong internal debate... because I am so loving Darjeelings right now. But, for everyday tea, I still think oolongs would be what I'd pick... PLUS... there is ooooh darjeeling, so I can have the best of both worlds. I ultimately could not vote "black" because all of my favorite darjeelings are of the greener, more oolongish variety... not the darker ones. The Darjeeling 22 is on the verge of "too dark" for my tastes, and I am wishing for some happy alternative since my other Djs are almost depleted. <sigh>
In my cup this morning was some Wuyi Ensemble... I think the 3rd infusion was my favorite, although it may have a couple left yet. In my cup during the day were various Darjeelings. Tonight was some coconut oolong (i like!) and s'more Dj. Bedtime soon so I need to stoppppp...

A kilo of Yutaka Midori is enroute! That was quite a GREEN TeaDay you had, by the way.Shannon wrote:GREEN!!!
This ties it I think. The sencha is in the mail, right, Chip?
Interestingly, all green today. Miyabi, Long Jing, and Lu An Gua Pian. That is quite a tea menu!
And a kilo of the good stuff for you as well.murrius wrote: Chip, in order to confirm that one vote does indeed count, I would suggest you suspend the poll now while green tea is ahead.

Finished the day with a nice pot of Houjicha. I don't know why I don't drink this more often. Really quite nice. I bought this 3 years ago from Upton, and it was likely in their warehouse a few more. It is amazing how this holds up.
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!
