If anyone want to stress their teapots and cups, just sent them to me and I'll take them into the office where I work.

I took quite a ribbing for that comment.
All I have to do is show them some of my chipped teaware, really stresses them out.

If I carck one of my teaware, I will probably commit ritual suicide afterwards.
P.S. With gyokuro one should use houhin or shiboradashi teaware to get it right.

You can get excellent results without any special teaware, as long as the teaware material is neutral to taste and wide enough to let enough room for the leaves.
But if you like very much gyokuro, you will quickly end up buying some houhins and/or shiboridashis. I own currently five of them (six if I count a little flat kyuusu which size is perfect for gyokuro) and might get an other one from hankook.

Which gyokuro did you brew?
It was the Gyokuro Premium from Hibiki-an. Just opened it this morning, love the smell of those freshly opened packages! I will try it again tomorrow morning to see if i can repeat the magic...

Holy smokes!
I had a sample of this tea and hated it. No wonder, I must have killed it with the temperature I was using.
Good tea drinking,

Which Den's gyokuro did you try? The Kin or the Suimei?
I've only had the Kin from Den's, but I found it to be an average/mediocre gyokuro. I'm always on the hunt for something spectacular though. Den's wasn't very spectacular at all. Although it does have it's price going for it which is on the cheaper side of things.
Good gyokuro leaves you feeling wonderful for quite some time

I was also very disappointed in the Kin ... it was my first and I don't even count it as a gyokuro experience ... it was that different from the real stuff.

I currently have the Suimei in cold storage. I am anxious to try it.
I have tried several of O-Cha's gyokuro. I have not been disappointed.
The one I have open now "Kame-Giru-Shi" I have only tried once,
but it is one of Olivier's faves. The "Gyoko Hou" and "Fujitsubo" are both very good,
and I found to be fairly different from each other.
The Yame Supreme is priced for everyday, but it is a very good value
and an interesting venture into the Yame prefecture's gyokuro.
Yame gyokuro from Zencha is better than O-Cha Yame, smoother,
but it is almost twice the price. It is available in a 50 gram bag
which is a nice option. I get a bag of this every year,
it was my intro to both Yame gyokuro and premium grades.
Still, their is much to seek out for the adventurous with money to spend.
I have seen Gyokuro costing several hundred dollars. Personally,
I cannot justify that kind of cost.
Edited for Clarifiacation

Definitely give gyokuro another shot. Gyokuro is not an everyday tea for me.
I savour it a few times a week like a very fine wine.

Interesting, I wonder if it was more of a Kabusecha, there is a lot of kabuse
that is sold as lower end gyokuro since it is similarly produced.

Isn't the
Kame-Giru-Shi ($27.50 per 55 gr) the same price as the
Gyokuro The Ultimate ($25 per 50 gr)? Is there a another Gyokuro at Zencha?

I was referring to the Yame Supreme at 28 USD per 100 grams versus the Yame Ultimate at 49 USD per 100 grams (25 per 50 grams).
The Kame-Giri-Shui is Uji.
I was comparing Yame Gyokuro at that point. Sorry, I will edit to clarify.
Also, minor point, the Kame is a 50 gram bag, shipping weight is 55 grams.

All other things being equal, is gyokuro from Yame supposed to be better? Or different?
