Well, actually, it just arrived minutes ago. I received samples of 5 new offerings. White Symphony, Emerald Needle, Fujian Baroque, and Yunnan Noir ... plus the Golden Spring.

What to try???

I voted, "Yes I think so". I usually post around 7-8 pm eastern time and find very few posts after that. The next AM we are on a new topic. Golden Yunnan this AM. Just recieved my samples of all the new Adagio blacks. Yunnan Noir tomorrow morning! Jim

See that's the thing. You have weather. I think it was most aptly said when someone commented that California doesn't really have seasons. When you live somewhere that doesn't freeze in the winter, never snows, and rains a little bit each year, it gets status quo, it's boring. I enjoy something different. Somewhere that cold really means cold.

leftover Darjeeling in my teacup tonight - I did not get to drink it at all at work
but too much tea is keeping me up at night into the wee still hours. :(

yes - I would miss Teachat
You didn't get the snow! You don't know what you're missing!

I came home and spent some 90 minutes shoveling ten inches of white mud! Good thing my new tea shipment came in today and I got to drink a good ten/twelve+- mugs of tea today before I got home. I don't usually overdo it like that (except sometimes on weekends) but when four new teas arrive in the mail during work during a snowstorm, well...

Right now the wind is howling, the power keeps flashing on and off, and my neighbors utility pole snapped at the base and is leaning on their house with my power connected to it. This is absolute bliss. Bliss I tell you!!!! :D

I read TeaChat way more than I post. I learn a lot here. It's nice to be able to consult with tea scholars. I always knew I didn't know much about tea but didn't know just how much.

And I really enjoy the photography. I had a big interest in photography way back when cameras used something called 'photographic film' to record images.

The internet is great. Without this site I probably would have gone to my grave brewing every tea with boiling or near boiling water.

I am currently seasoning my new teapot. I'd love to get it a whirl tonight, but I'm afraid I'd never get to sleep, so I will have to have my first home-brewed oolong tomorrow morning.

Meanwhile, I went to a local sushi restaurant with a friend, and I had my first genmaicha! It was spectacular!! I was really dubious when reading about it, but we were at the restaurant and I thought, I'll order green tea. And I asked if it was sencha, to which she replied it was genmaicha.

Completely floored... and looking forward to ordering some in the future. :D

I've been rather busy over the past few weeks and whilst checking in on teachat I've let teaday pass me by. On the plus side it means I've got to see a fair few of Salsero's, and others, photos in a run which is nice.

Today's tea is the same leaf as yesterdays, which is no bad thing, 1990 sheng from Stéphane Erler. As the weather becomes more of an ordeal here I appreciate tea leaves which have been through more of an ordeal. After a 30min cycle home in frost I want a tea that has been through some sort of ordeal be it roasting, fermentation, oxidation or aging.

I've just ordered some nice Chinese green and figure It's gonna take a day in the house with the heating on to appreciate it .

I may have to go to an Asian food restaurant one of these days, just to try the tea. I am not a fan at all of Asian food, but it seems an expedition is in order.

Lady Grey in my cup, diluted enough that I don't cringe from the bergamont.

I have sampler tins of black tea inbound from Adagio...hope it gets here soon...

And you, you are a thousand miles away,
There are always two cups on my table.

I miss TC and everyone on it when I'm away. I'm a creature of habit, and besides being nice and informative, this forum is part of my routine!

It's supposed to snow here tonight, ugh. I think I'm gonna need to make myself a hot cup of Assam, grab another chocolate chip pumpkin scone, and curl up on the couch with a book to deal with that.

Here's hoping this winter isn't a repeat of the last one--second snowiest on record--wherein my area got ~118" of snow. I love the cold; I hate snow. I'm not built for shoveling!

Yes, I am living proof that green tea is the fountain of youth. I never get sick, I'm 236 years of age and I still live at home with my parents who, although over 300 now, are still fit and spry; being green tea drinkers themselves.

I just finished a nice pot of Yunnan Golden. I fully realize that this is not a green tea but I'm feeling frisky tonight and in the mood to live dangerously.

TeaChat is often part of my day and I enjoy the dialogue. It's nice to be able to hang out online with like minded folks. If I wax enthusiastic to my family and friends about my passion for tea they often give me those indulgent looks usually reserved for infants or pets.

I feel your pain! We've had torrential rain all day that finally turned to snow around 5pm. It's still snowing outside as of now and we have a winter storm warning in effect until 2pm tomorrow. We've only lost power once so far though. Thankfully, no shoveling for me since I am on a college campus, but the Bobcat snowplows are out in full force. I hope your power situation gets fixed soon, Ti!

I definitely miss Teachat on days I can't check out the forums. I love the friendly environment and all the good discussions. It is so nice to have a spot to visit where other people enjoy tea as much as I do. That in itself keeps me coming back again and again.

Today, I've had hojicha, cherry-rose sencha, and am now on a cup of Blood Orange Rooibos.

Ah Texans...

You need to get yourself out here to the sunny (ugh) land of CA.
Pentox, you are so right. I need more tea. Yesterday when I got home, I was all prepared (mentally) to have some tai ping monkey king and instead I ended up sleeping on the couch, too tired to make tea. So I guess in addition to more tea, I need someone to make it for me!

Mmm, California. Sun. Warmth. All these things sound wonderful. My goal is to one day live where I can wear shorts on Christmas and it is not in the Southern hemisphere.

Oh. My. Goodness. I would turn blue. I went to Wisconsin one winter for a friend's wedding and I swear my lips were either blue or purple the whole time. Even when inside. Brr.

That's what vacations are for! Live in the "boring" sunny climate of southern California, go to Colorado to go snowboarding or Seattle for rain or Vermont for pretty leaves, whatever. Most people live in crappy climates and go to sunny ones for vacation. You just need to reverse it!

Heh, I actually do just that. People always think i'm crazy when it's frozen over and I walk out and just take it all in. I love the feeling of walking outside in winter and getting a nice deep breath of sub 30 degree air. It's so refreshing and awakening.

That's why you should teach DH in the ways of making tea, if only for the sole purpose of so he can make tea for you. Isn't that what a Doting Husband is for anyway? So he can care for you and bring you tea while you're sick?

Or you can head out here to CA and let some of us make you tea.

For the record, I did not complain about the weather here. We here in Southern California have the best weather in the whole country except of course for Hawaii. We have snow in the mountains in the winter if you want to go up there, as for me, I'll take the temperate weather down here. I moved here and have stayed here for the weather. Close to 80 right now, but doesn't feel hot at all, it's a beautiful sunny day.

Now ... what tea to brew ...
