I suppose tea drinking is all about mood for me, though I drink it all the time. If I am happy, it makes me excited and happy to prepare tea, if I am sad, it makes me feel better to prepare tea. Tea enhances any mood for me. Sadly, today I have only been able to enjoy a few cups this morning. I just arrived up in Maryland a few hours ago to visit family for Thanksgiving so havent had a chance to brew any here yet...

Second that taiping!!

Anytime you prepare tea you're 'in the mood' - else why would you be fixing tea? On the other hand, having tea generally enhances/improves (read: modifies) my mood. It's kind of a chicken or the egg conundrum for me.

Since I also drink tea throughout the day, my mood mainly dictates which specific tea I want and how I'll prepare it. If I'm going to watch a basketball game on TV, I'll often just use an infuser and fill up a mug. If it's been an extremely bad day or ride home from work (all too often the case lately) I might need a full on 'session' in my tatami room, complete with a Van Morisson album (greatest hits 3 playing as I type this, with a steaming cup of Jin Hsuen Oolong close at hand).

Tea is a great friend to have. It is patient, a good listener, never critical, and always available to soothe your cares away or cheer you up . . . . . . uh, wait a sec. .. . maybe that's my dogs I'm thinking of . . . . hmm mmm
:)

Woohoo, what a nice find! I actually have 2 of those rice pattern cups, very smallish, I need to measure but I was guessing about 80cc, they might be 100. I also have a gaiwan in that same pattern... all acquired from Ebay. I'm so glad you found those!

Thanks! I may have to start hunting for a gaiwan to match now that you've mentioned that one exists.

Thanks! My jaw just dropped yet again with the awesomeness of the rice porcelain. Now I know what I want for Christmas.

Yes, I have been a huge fan since I held my first piece. Before coming to this board, I had a very hard time finding it.

Yep, that's the one I have. Here's the link to buy it on Ebay if you want only 1 instead of the pair:

What I really want is a pure white rice pattern cup. Victoria is evil.

I have a couple of cups and bowls of that same pattern that I got from eBay as well. They seem so delicate, I haven't used them, but they are sure pretty!
