I mostly use a travel thermos to steep the tea. I do have a favorite tea pot. My Grandmother got it as a gift from my mother and aunt when they were in highschool. She used to make me tea when I was sick as a child. She gave it to me for Christmas about 5 years ago. She now has Alzhimers and doesnt know who I am. I love looking at it but am so afraid to use it in fear that I will break it. It hold so much love for me that I would be so hurt if I broke it. Am I strange?? Does anyone have a pot like that? It is adorable white with purple pansies pattern... so dainty and sits on a large warmer. I need to have a couple friends over for tea in her special tea pot.

Oh, I do understand your worry of breaking such a precious thing as your grandmother's teapot!
My late mother had some favourite bone-china teacup sets, and I treasure them fiercely to this day. However, I do use them (on special occasions, and only with great care) - just because to me it seems sadder if they sit in the china cabinet and gather dust. When they come out, I use them myself or share them with friends who aren't likely to knock them about.
When you serve your friends tea from your grandmother's teapot, you can always share a story or two about her. I think it would make a lovely way of remembering and honouring the closeness you had with her.

Voted "Definately Not" due to the fact that I use an infuser/mug at work and that's where I drink most of my tea. I have a glass tea pot and an "English" ceramic pot at home that I do use on occassion.
Enjoyed some tea while visiting my eldest son in DC over a "long" weekend. Of course, I'd sent him the tea!

Amazon, of all places. We found the cups in our basement and someone on here pointed me to Amazon when I was looking for a matching gaiwan. They come in a set of two and are very sturdy, not quite as delicate as the cups, but still very nice.olivierco wrote:I got the same teacups with a little teapot. Where did you get the gaiwan?
