I'd love to have a teashop of my own, I'd love to be my own boss and work with tea...actually it's something I just might do in a few years. But not in China.

Speaking of Adagio, we had their Alishan earlier in this "gaiwanesque" thing. It is really a sweet set from PurePuerTea. "This set features two raised relief imperial dragons in the traditional style. The dragons are outlined in a shiny metallic gold color and the raised scales make the dragons come alive in your hand." The vendor's description is not an exageration. It is stunning! The lid doubles as a bowl complete with spout. I put the dry leaf in it for a closer look before brewing.

Gotta say no to china...lots of reasons not the least of which is political (but I don't like to talk politics so enough of that).
Not a lot of time for tea today...Kenilworth Ceylon at breakfast with my son and in my travel mug...unusually hectic day at work punctuated by a teary-panicky call from my daughter ("if I don't major in math what am I going to major in? I'm not good at anything else." says the girl who is making great grades in every class except calculus.) I did get a nice bowl of matcha late this afternoon, before running out the door to a nice pot-luck dinner with my husband...wish I could have another bowl now.

I was actually kind of disappointed about that. Adagio just sent things for the goodie bags. No reps there. There were about 40 vendors in all - only about a dozen of them were tea related. (The rest were coffee, bakeries, a beer festival rep, and a few other assorted things.) BUT, although few in number, there were some really good tea vendors there. Plus there were some excellent tea seminars/demonstrations. We went to a Korean Loose Leaf Tea Ceremony demonstration, a Tea 101 type class with Tea Master Yoon Hee Kim, and a Tea Cocktails class with Chris Cason.Chip wrote:Did you see the Adagio booth and peeps while you were at the show? 4 years, time for it to either boom or bust. TBH, when I saw the vendor list and the $20ish admission charge, I did a major eye roll. Agreed. I found a coupon online from Imbibe that made the tix only $10 each. Plus, it was an excuse to get some babysitting and spend a day in NY. Oh, and at least the beer guys brought coffee-infused beer. Less annoying to me than the NY Times and Verizon booths!

Depends on the offer, the investment, and especially the smarts of the co-owner, and all sorts of other things.
I would most likely take that trip to China to check it out, but it would depend on a lot of other factors in my life. One could always give it a period of time! FWIW I do know people who do business in China already and have other reasons to go.
