Some kind of tea space, possibly, even probably, but probably not a real tea room. I don't have the Asian sensibility for that.
In the cup: Den's Sencha Shin-ryoku. I'm trying to clear the cupboard of last year's sencha--all you shincha fanatics wore down my resistance, so I decided to see what all the excitement was about and have some on the way, but it would be nice to have somewhere to store it when it gets here.

Aah I see. I'm much less confused now. However, I do need to use a bit more leaf next time. Better to start with less and work your way up though eh?brlarson wrote:Hey Danibob, I'm drinking Takumi Sencha! My Zencha Shincha is still en route.danibob wrote:Like brlarson, I'm trying the Takumi right now. I definitely brewed it much differently, and although it isn't bad, I may have been too worried about over doing it so I cut down on leaf.. which is probably why the taste is a little lacking. Still not bad for my first crack at this tea, let alone shincha.
When I first opened the Takumi I followed Zencha's recommendation of 5:4 ratio and I was very pleased. Now that the bag has been open for a while the tea has lost some of its freshness, but increasing the leaf/water ratio is keeping the flavor of this tea nice and rich.
Shincha-wise, I plan to open the Yutaka Midori first and the Takumi second.
Then I'll open `The Ultimate' and the Temomi at the same time, and wiil invite two or maybe three friends over to share the event.

I don't really understand the term "tea room" as my favorite place to enjoy my tea, as my meals, is on the couch in front of the television. Unlike food though I do also enjoy my tea in front of the computer though more often than not I get sidetracked with something and it goes cold.
What I would like though is a library that could hold all my literature as well as a comfortable chair where I could easily escape the household to get lost reading as that would be another ideal spot to enjoy a cup of tea.

You seem awfully well versed in this. Is there something you'd like to share with the group? Or is this just what Auggy's "no-pan" tea room is gonna be?

No, sadly my well-versed-ness comes from mostly books. Every time I'm in Japan I have to bring back my weight in weird books about Japan that you can't find in the US and quite a few of them are about the "adult" industry in Japan (because honestly, I find it fascinating - nothing says "culture not based on Puritanical morals" like finding hooker baseball cards in phone booths after dark. Collect them all!Pentox wrote:auggy wrote:Pentox wrote:Hahaha, some odd thoughts coming out of Auggy!auggy wrote:Just don't put mirrors on the floor of your tearoom, yeah?Pentox wrote:In my land of infinite wealth I would. Hm so you're saying you go to Japan, buy your weight in books mostly "about" the adult industry, and go around at night to phone booths picking up hooker baseball cards.auggy wrote: No, sadly my well-versed-ness comes from mostly books. It does sound like that doesn't it? Though the baseball cards were first. There there was the shrine to the man bits, then the argument about if comfort women should be included in the history books, which lead to more about comfort women which led to the adult books, which lead to finding out (but not reading) the guidebooks for the adult establishments... and if your tea room was a no-pan tea room, we could make sure it would get on those lists!Pentox wrote:Hm so you're saying you go to Japan, buy your weight in books mostly "about" the adult industry, and go around at night to phone booths picking up hooker baseball cards.
