These are spent leaves – not from the old sheng from Aaron Fisher of the previous 2 days – but from a different, unlabeled and even better mystery sheng from the same artistic editor-in-chief. Even the little bear got tea drunk on this stuff!

Sal your picture couldn't have come at a better time. I made it through 5 days without any tea  I went on a hiking/camping trip in tennessee where I was as close to being attacked by a bear as you can possibly be without it actually being on top of me.

We were at the end of a 14 mile hike up Mt. Leconte. We could almost see the parking lot and were pretty tired and apparently not paying enough attention because we turned a corner and went a little down the trail before I spoted a momma bear with her little cub(really cute) right next to me on the trail. So close I could smell her musky coat from the previous rain. The cub quickly scampered up a nearby tree as she turned towards dad and I. We were so close I didn't even want to try and back up because it might scare her more so we just froze. She pawed at the ground and then charged us, stoped right in front of me, went up on her hinde legs and stomped the ground, snorted, then turned and walked back to the tree her cub was in before tearing up a nearby log. We then slowly backed away while her back was turned as I got a few pictures :D I have always wanted a close encounter with a bear so this was as good as it gets not being harmed and being so close.

This made me realize how passive bear really are. She could have easily riped us apart but instead she just wanted us to leave her cub alone. The other 4 bear we saw while rideing bikes ran away as soon as they saw us.

Im glad I made it back for this pole because I love lapsang souchong its one of my favorite black teas.

Long jing in my cup today
