Awesome! This is the sort of thing I'm looking forward to doing... very hard to go 20+ in a 120mL pot... even over multiple days.debunix wrote:I think I finally got to the bottom of my GYG puerh in the micro pot after who knows how many infusions--definitely more than 30, probably less than 50, but now it is losing color and needing a little longer for good flavor, up to a minute or two per infusion. Still not entirely done, though. I'm amazed.

My third acquisition, found at a local thrift store. Much better than the two I paid full price for online! I do have a question, if anybody can help me. It has a hollow handle with a hole in it, and it's own little lid. Has anyone seen this before, or know what it's used for? I'm guessing to keep the tea pot hot, if filled with hot water?
- Clay type -- I'm so new at this, I'm not sure.
- Size of pot in ml or oz. -- About 4 ounces
- What year/decade the pot was made -- have no idea
- If the pot is thin-walled, medium, or thick-walled -- it's rather heavy, but it's a double wall
- How long is the pour? -- slow, and a finger over the lid hole stops it perfectly
- Where you acquired the pot -- local thrift store for $3.00
- What type of tea you make with it -- so far, puehr, but I'm open for suggestions
- What qualities the pot has on tea. i.e. Why do you like to brew a certain tea in it, and what does it do for that tea -- I haven't used it enough times to answer this
The pot also came with a small tray, and a set of four tiny cups with their own tray.

I've had my eye on this little pot for quite awhile, but haven't purchased because I could never get an answer on size. thanks for posting!Nenugal wrote:Nice pots, auhckw, debunix, nickE & Dima
Yesterday I received a Little Lequ Pot from zishateapot.co.uk, 100 ml (the indicated size seems to be relatively accurate in this case), qingshuini clay, relatively thick-walled.

Thank you very much, Nenugal.Nenugal wrote:Nice pots, auhckw, debunix, nickE & Dima

The packaging is some of the most unbreakable I've ever seen; I spent a lot of time just unwrapping layer upon layer of bubble wrap, before reaching the nice red box that was filled with polystyrene, more bubblewrap, and finally a small teapot in a silk-like wrapping too. Of course the pot was also filled with polystyrene
The pot looks very nice and passed all the lid-fit tests and pours well, but I have yet to make tea in it, so the final judgement is pending.
Thank you for all your description about the pot. Really appreciated.
Hope you can enjoy your tea with this pot. : )

My latest acquisition is the result of searching San Francisco's antique stores and Chinatown high and low, looking for teaware treasures. Given the large Chinese and Japanese populations, I was a bit surprised that I only found a couple things worth buying. Among them was this pot, hidden among a bunch of junky Yixing in an antique mall. I don't think this pot is older than the 90's, but maybe one of the experts here can take an educated guess as to the age? The shape screams "use me for yancha!"

Clay: Fine grained Zisha (or maybe zisha/zini mix?). Medium fired.
Size: 130 ml
Age/Year: 90's? Early 00's?
Walls: Thick!
Pour: +/- 6 sec. No drips. Good lid fit.
Source: San Francisco Antique Mall
Tea Pairing: Wuyi oolong all the way! Too big for solo sessions, but perfect for 3-5 people. (Or maybe 2 yancha addicts. *cough* Brandon *cough*)
Info: When I first saw this pot in the dim lighting of the antique mall, I thought it was almost black. I've had bad experiences with fake Hei Ni (black clay) before, so I almost put it back. Luckily I brought it over to a window to see it was actually dark zisha. I'm just beginning to test the pot, but so far so good. Seems to round the mouthfeel of teas a bit, focuses the flavors, and maintains the sweetness. Might not be ideal for a lighter floral yancha, but should be perfect for the high fire ones. The thick walls hold the heat very well.

Nice find! I love pots with a large lid opening like that for yancha...

Nearly bought this...

Got so tempted to buy this 2 years old modern zhuni 3 legged teapot. Size is just right for 1 or 2 person. Love at first sight but...
Someone has used it before and didn't clean the teapot well. There are some tough stains on the outside. I tried to use water and rub it with my fingers. Couldn't get it off... so decided to pass as it is not cheap either.

I wouldn't pass on a pot you like just because of a few tea stains. Even heavy tea stains are pretty easily dealt with, and there's plenty of threads on this forum (and elsewhere) about how to remove them, if you find them bothersome.auhckw wrote: Someone has used it before and didn't clean the teapot well. That is being sold as zhuni? Unless the photo is really off, I am pretty sure its zini.auhckw wrote:Nearly bought this...

Let me think this through for a few more days. The colour of the photo is right. Yes, doesn't look much like zhuni. Not much stretch mark. Very questionable. But design is nice. They say 3 legged is harder to do.

How long is the pour? Spout looks quite thin. If it's 10 seconds or less, seems like a decent buy to me.

It shoots out water. Smooth flow. No drip. Yes, within 10 seconds. I will go again later with a friend to check it out again...tingjunkie wrote:How long is the pour? Spout looks quite thin. If it's 10 seconds or less, seems like a decent buy to me.

Poor auhckw.... never had a chance with all of these enablers here.auhckw wrote:It shoots out water. Smooth flow. No drip. Yes, within 10 seconds. It does have interesting feet. I don't know that I've seen pointy feet like that before (granted, I'm not keeping track).
Hrm, that reminds me. "I mean, seriously, how often do you really look at a man's shoes?"
