Her 2009 Special Roast Dong Ding is pretty good, esp. compared to her 2010 Traditional Dong Ding. The 2010 had good flavors and good mouth feel, but no aftertaste.tingjunkie wrote:Yeah, the 2009 was serious stuff. I'm beginning to think the 2010 teas are mostly not-so-fantastic due to the bad winter. Time to scout deals on remaining 2009 stocks.

Just finishing off some Spring 2010 AliShan from TeaSmith in London. Its a very very beautiful tea - so smooth.
I also have a 1999 Roasted Dong Ding from DTH which is very tasty as well.

I am trying this tea now. Very nice flavor.tingjunkie wrote:
Just finished a nice session of the Li Shan Cui Luan form Floating Leaves also (this time in the gaiwan). It was rather complex. Not too sweet, but very clean with strong notes of Shiso leaf. I liked it, but would like to see more floral or fruity notes. We'll see what a week of rest does for this one too.I

Re: What Oolong are You Drinking Right Now?
A major tea breakthough for me today! I went to Mitsuwa marketplace in New Jersey, ran across some bamboo charcoal, and bought it on a whim. I added a few small pieces to my kettle, and let some NYC tap water marinate for about 20 minutes. NYC is known for having excellent tap water, but mine always had a funky chlorine/old pipes smell to it. I tried tasting the cool water after it had the charcoal sitting in it for a bit, and all the normal chlorine taste and aroma was gone! It was very fresh, clean, and sweet tasting. Hooray!
I then made some Seasonal Da Hong Pao from Jing using the charcoal in the kettle as it boiled. The tea was MURDER! Really good strong clean flavors. I think I can stop buying Poland Spring now! Oh happy day.

Cold-brewed Winter Alishan Oolong. Quite nice for the heat, but not as good as the hot stuff.

Formosa Shanlinxi Oolong. Not one of my faves but still pretty good. Has a bit of a creamy texture and nice vegetal and a bit of nuttiness.
