Re: Shawn McGuire (GREENWOODSTUDIO)
This has to be one of my favourite glazes, just beautiful. I couldn't resist grabbing a little cup for myself and still seem to be keeping an eye on the etsy feed to see what else appears. A reserved snowflake pitcher which just showed up is causing me particular envy.

That is a nice one!JRS22 wrote:I just ordered a tiny teacup, 75 ml, in a delicate design that fits the glaze beautifully.

Shawn, I'm so sorry to hear about the collapse over your wood-kiln.GreenwoodStudio wrote:It's been cold here in Central New York, like REAL cold. About a month ago my studio froze and I lost all the work I had been making due to freezing clay. Heavy snowfall has also made this winter a tough one, and last week my brand new kiln shed structure collapsed under the weight of the snow. Luckily the wood-kiln was unharmed, but what a mess and we'll have to rebuild before we can fire in the spring. So, I was feeling a bit down and couldn't find the motivation to get back into the cold studio.
Finally, I figured if you can't beat 'um, join 'um. I decided to try my hand at some Ice Crackle glaze. I think Jack Frost was pleased and blessed me with a good firing.

Blessings!

I am so sorry too Shawn. I saw a picture on FB. It looks you were lucky anyway.

I'm so sorry for that trouble too! My daughter was just down from Dryden, sounds like even more crazy than usual weather.
The new pieces are lovely, icy, crackly pieces, now on Etsy - they do seem so right to express a shatteringly cold winter. I like that they respond to warmth.

Shawn's yunomi arrived yesterday. Stunning piece, nothing like what I have. Once water hits it the cracks in the glaze disappear.

Sorry debunix. I had tea in the dimly lit hours of yesterday' s evening. This was a quick photo from this morning when the sun's light shines through the window.debunix wrote:Action shot with tea in it?
