Victoria,
That's gorgeous!
Wow.
Where can I find her stuff online?
I need to watch for something beautiful.
Geeez, I'm just stunned at that quinomi.
And I think you captured it well.
Peace.

Re: The unofficial, official HAGI topic!
I have owned and really loved Noutomi Susumu's work (the father) for approaching a year and have long considered his works as a source for Hagi Special Offers. His work is so earthy, organic, realllly love it, though it is not "mainstream" like Deishi and Seigan.
But it is not like I can pick up the phone and say, "Hey Susumu, wassup, how'bout some SOs for my fellow TCers?"
Now having obtained and seen Naoko's (the daughter) works from the same Choun kiln (owned by Susumu), I have become even more motivated to make the Hagi Special Offers happen.
I think a series of Hagi Special Offers featuring the kiln are in order. Sharing their work with fellow Western Hagiphiles would be quite special and rewarding for me indeed!
I have made appropriate contacts and the ball has begun to rollll ...
Hmmm, did someone say "what about Kashun?"

Yeah what about Kashun? Would be nice to see some of those lovelies too.Chip wrote: Hmmm, did someone say "what about Kashun?"
Especially since most of what I am finding of his are guinomi, would be nice to have a yunomi or larger offer.

Yeah Cyn - great biwa!
Maybe I should've chosen that one.
Well my pkg arrived today as I was walking out the door, can't wait to
get home and pry into its contents!
Cheers.

Re: The unofficial, official HAGI topic!
I hate it when they try to deliver my teawares from Japan while I am at work.
This only means I will miss their 2nd attempt tomorrow as well. Perhaps by Thursday, they will leave me a pick-up claim for the post office. Makes me wonder why I bother with EMS. <sigh>

For the sheer fear that your tea ware will break on the way here.kymidwife wrote:I hate it when they try to deliver my teawares from Japan while I am at work. This only means I will miss their 2nd attempt tomorrow as well. BTW, international air mail isn't insured, right?
Re: The unofficial, official HAGI topic!
Okay - my Deishi Biwa-Yuu wan arrived today, and I love, love, love it!
Here is my photo (and I am disappointed, the rich pink tones just don't show up in this photo, wish I knew how to photograph better - no idea what I'm doing wrong
).
Anyway, here is my new baby!

Now for that soaking business...

Re: The unofficial, official HAGI topic!
Congrats, Seeker! I turned off the flash on my camera and used a desk lamp (pointed away) to light the pic of the biwa. And then held very still....haha.
It's lovely!

Re: The unofficial, official HAGI topic!
Seeker, regardless, she is still another beautiful Biwa, aka loquat Hagi. I know many of us were quite particular about which one(s) we prefered, but when it comes down to it, they are all amazing, each in its own way.
