Hello,
I came across this image of a Chawan from the past and thought I would post it just for fun. I think I need to look this recipe up in my files and bring it out of hiding. It is a rather unremarkable glaze when applied thin but can do some interesting crawling when applied a bit thicker.
Thanks for looking...
Michael

Hello,
It's been quite some time since I've posted here, so I thought I would take this opportunity to upload a few images of work from last weeks firing.
It's been a very busy spring (althought it seems that winter just won't quit, we woke up to 4-5" of snow this morning) here at the gallery and studio with exhibits, teaching and making loads of new work. It's amazing how this year is moving at such a pace.

Thanks for looking... Michael

Here's todays Chawan from last weeks firing. I'm working on throwing shapes with glaze catching area and working to control, to some degree, the flow of the Nuka. I've posted additional images of this piece on my blog at: http://dmichaelcoffee.wordpress.com
Thanks for looking and your feedback is always welcome,
Michael

I'm certainly no ceramics expert, but I really like that particular glaze combo! It's really gorgeous....

I like how you made the inside black and the outside, well... stunning!
This makes the green of matcha pop while making the bowl itself an impressive sight.
I don't love this combination for regular tea cups but for matcha bowls it's great.
Since I am quite intrigued by a particular glaze style that you posted on your etsy but the items may not be quite ideal for me size/shape wise, I was wondering if you did custom orders (out of curiosity, for now...
)? Do you make tea pots as well? (I don't think I've seen any)
Anyway, really impressive work! Love the creativity.
Thanks for sharing!

Hello Stentor,
Thanks for your kind words and comments regarding my Tenmoku and Nuka Chawan. Yes, I do take orders (from patience people
) on a regular bases.
I make a large variety of different kinds of work including tea pots. Currently, my tea pots tend more toward a stylize western ideal with a little humor. I've been studying the more traditional forms that interest most here on TC and will start the process of creating my vision of these forms soon...I'm always interesting in a challenge.
The image below is of a few bisqueware tea pots that will soon be glaze fired, and when finished, will have cane handles.
Thanks again,
Michael
