Re: cory Lum (bonjiri) chadogu & photographs
hi cory...i would be interested in knowing more about your mini train kiln design. i am in the process of deciding on a wood kiln design to build at my western massachusetts studio. i was in north carolina a couple of weeks ago and visited judith duff's studio in brevard; she has a train kiln and the firing results are amazing. i am curious to know the size of your "mini" vs. her kiln size.

per robert fornell's inspiration via tsujimura shiro's 8 chawan kama (kiln)
i was inspired to make a 'test' wood kiln that could handle 8 chawan and guinomi for fillers. so the foot print is basically 1 shelf size. 1 foot high.
it will likely be a small box. i was entertaining the idea of making it transportable. but i think i will build it in the backyard. hehe ! dimensions. looking at 18-inch x 18-inch. hardbrick bottom. likely a castable top... thinking an arch might be too labor intensive.

this is a start. u can message tracy directly too. some cool ideas and firing methodologies
i'm interested in using various woods that are available in hawaii. also using local hawaii clay/s.
a truly inspirational artist. one of my favorites. kakurezaki sensei. http://www4.ocn.ne.jp/~ranran/ran02kakurezaki_wan.html
cheers

So, what is the difference between your term "tezukuri" (pinch pot) and "Tebineri" (pinch pot) that I have seen in reference to Hagi pinch works?

don't know.
tebineri vs. tezukuri...
i'm wondering if both words are interchangeable. i'll ask my japanese language friends for clarification.
maybe robert might know.
