Recently opened a bag of Kame Jirushi gyokuro from O-Cha. The first steep is always mind blowingly good. I break out the good gyokuro-ware for this stuff!
After approaching and being in a sencha drought, I had begun to do smaller steeps of sencha upon replentishment ...
This is is fine, but a +/- of this is that 2 open bags of sencha are lasting much longer. The plus being the tea lasts longer. The minus being the tea lasts longer.

I should say possible too long.

Not sure if that actually fits in here with the pure greens, but i couldn't find a better place to post it and wanted to share.
A few months back, to escape the cold in Jiangsu, my wife and I went to Hainan for a few weeks. Today I am having a KuDingCha (苦丁茶), coconut flavored, which i brought home from the trip.

I am having a bit of a cold right now which impairs my sense of smell greatly, which is the very reason i got out this tea now as it is so strong in flavor and aroma that even my blocked nose lets it through.

I was joking because I by far prefer Asamushi, and have quite a bit of it on hand, in fact it will be a struggle to finish most of it off before Shincha really starts coming in.

Maiko's shuppin' gyokuro.
This is wonderful tea. It is similar to O-Cha's Kame Jiru Shi but a little richer, more subdued, more layers of flavor -- artichoke and asparagus tips but rich and deep, earthy tones but (again) rich and muted.
The five-packs of the Yamashita gyokuro (five different 8 gram packs) are pricey, but I like being able to open a single-use pack to make tea for a friend. If I opened a 50 grams pack and used 8 then I would have to drink the other 42 grams quickly otherwise it would go stale, but that's not a problem with these single-use packs.

After drinking drinking large amounts of some cheap young sheng this morning, I thought I'd go GREEN again and opened a bag of Maiko's Yamashita-Jirushi Gyokuro. I'm utterly wowed

I have recently started drinking Green Tea- for allllll the health benefits..
However I am drinking Twinings (not sure how good this type of tea is) and I think it tastes a little ashy?? Is this normal? And what brand would you recommend? Preferably a bag and not leaves.
Thanks! c

I doubt there are any good green tea bags. I saw only some decent genmaicha, but genmaicha is to begin with not a premium tea. Since i drink japanese green teas i suggest you to try them, with a kyusu it's really easy to prepare
From Twinings i was drinking only early grey and i think it was quite nice.
p.s.
In any case, i think you will have better luck getting something good for adequate price in country of origin.

Even if you find something, try also to order online from one of many recommended vendors here and compare. Thought you might get hooked on those dried out leaves

I tried once some expensive unknown green tea in my home country and was disappointed, too bad i didn't check about tea on internet at that time, that was a big mistake.

I am drinking 1st Grade Jasmine and 3rd Grade Green Oolong from Ten Ren Tea
http://www.tenren.com The Oolong is okay, but if I bought again, I'd buy a higher grade. Jasmine is very good but starting to taste a bit bitter. Wonder how long it was in the store before they sold it to me.
Also have a Cranberry Mango Flavored Green Tea from TeaGshwendner which I do not really care for at all. The mango does not offset the tartness of the cranberries.
