Thanks for the kind words! This glaze seems to be a feldspathic ash glaze with a fair amount of clay to up the melting paint- would also promote the crawling. I'm sure Mr. Baymore would know the formula Could also be an under-fired nuka (rice husk ash) but I'm not sure..

My newest chawan from Ray Morales--and I think this makes the most pieces I've ever bought from a single ceramic artist, but this particular bowl was just so unique, I couldn't resist. According to the artist, it was created with a combination of chun and tenmoku glazes, though I've never seen a result quite like this before ....



I have to say, I've been really impressed with the direction this artist's work has taken over the last year or so. Definitely worth checking out on Etsy, if you're so inclined.

Nice..he has been on my watch list for a couple years. havent bought anything but I agree! He has definately evolved and for the better IMHO

I can't read all of the inscription, but it looks like the first pot has the name of a Xiamen, Fujian province tea company on it, while the second one is a classic "please drink Chinese oolong tea" pot

The first style is basically the precursor to the Please Drink.... pots. The text on the front is essentially the same text that's on the 22/23 character seal on the 'Please Drink...' pots. (CNNP, Xiamen Branch)

While the camera was out today.....I took a few pics of the newest additions to the collection: a simple porcelain cup from Greenwood Studios



and a pretty curtained cup that is very hard to photograph due to the shape and shininess....this shows off the pattern



but this is closer to what it feels like to drink from it

My new cup by Chris Gustin. Fresh out of his kiln this morning.
140ml filled to the rim.

Nice cup...Chris' kiln makes beautiful surfaces on Bmix clay when fired for 5 days. I like the form too...I have a cup of his with the same chrystals on a shino type glaze that I got in 2003 when I was firing in his kiln.

The five-character line 且汲石中泉 appears at first glance to be a line from a poem, translating to something along the lines of "about to draw water from the 'middle-of-the-rock' well." The pot's author appears to be a fellow by the name of 孟臣 Mèng Chén.

Funny enough, if you google this poetic line, the first result is a pot that appears to be almost identical to yours: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=1978513045&

Many, many, pots like this have been made both by Yixing and ChaoZhou potters over the decades. Tribute to the legendary Mengchen. Was it Qing that he lived?

Hmmm.. the pot from the link sure looks almost identical. It's way too big though 195ml. It claims to be 朱泥. Have no idea what clay mine is, but think it's safe for tea.
