Things like this are why I keep trying like matcha. I've gotten to not disliking, but not yet enough liking to justify keeping something this beautiful out of the hands of a matchaholic.

I feel your pain--I drink matcha, but not nearly as much as I do leaf tea ... and yet I can't seem to resist a gorgeous chawan anyway. *looks furtive* Sometimes I even drink non-matcha tea out of my chawan anyway, just so I can have an excuse to take them down off the shelf and hold them ...

Sorry you missed on those two pieces...The Red on the piece, you referenced, was a bit of a surprise. The Red is really a nice color and the satiny finish is really pleasing. So, yes I will be working with these two glazes to recreate the color, I'm with you, I think it would be killer on an all Red piece. I will let you know when I have some.

Here's three views of the same Yunomi glazed with shino, wood ash and rutile. It measures 3-1/8" h. x 3" dia., it was fired to ∆10 (2345F) in reduction in my latest firing.

It almost looks as if the fire decided to create an image of itself on the side of that cup--the signature of the kiln, as it were!
