Have had mixed feelings about posting this all day - so at the end of the day, I am surrendering to sharing and not being a photo snob/critic.
(tho I am perplexed about how the color seems off - I can't help but wonder if all that color from the rose had an impact on the camera's sensors or something? :? ) Oh, and be warned - you might want to put your sunglasses on - this is a California rose! 8)

Cory Lum "gingko leaves falling on moonless night" chawan with the very last of the Nodoka (gosh was that good matcha! :D ) :

Cheers.
(this is a rose from my yard, and it doesn't usually do this multiple thing - so a special rose to share with all of you - my TC friends!)

hope this is the right place to ask. so i've received this beautiful matcha bowl in the mail the other day and as much is i love it, i didn't realize it was unglazed before buying it. should i be cautious of using it and will the nature of the clay effect the taste of the matcha?

Hi teepo -- Welcome!

I'm afraid I don't know the answer to your query - but someone certainly will, and I'm guessing there'll be a response soon.

Gorgeous chawan!

Is it bizen?

Cheers.

(I bet matcha is beautiful in your wonderful bowl - will you post us a pic with matcha after you've sorted out your concern? )

Today, a matcha rose "occurred". :D
(but you have to go over to today's TeaDay: Daily Cup... to see it).

Got a matcha buzzzzz (sencha too  ), so here's another shot.

Cheers!

teepo,

Hard to tell from the single photo....but it LOOKS like unglazed stoneware of some sort with a little youhen "flashing", and no real shizenyu effects. Could even be gas fired (with certain other tricks). More pix would help a lot.

The main potential issue would be rapid wearing of the chasen when whisking the tea if you tend to "bear down" when doing so. Vitirified stoneware does not typically pose any real hazards.

best,

...............john

I did not get it as frothy and pretty as everyone else, but I will learn.
