I don't think there has been a mix up.
At least when comparing the one I had about a year ago to the one you have now. Sounds about like the same thing.

It did taste a little like kabusencha to me as well. A slight milkiness, leaf was darker, tasted slightly shade grown but then also tasted slightly bancha :?
Leaves lacked a certain freshness to them, and the reason why I said banchaish was because the leaf looked older and courser.

I still enjoyed its earthy kind of taste, but would rather get something else.

A 2011 Tai Ping Hou Kui at work today.... I just *love* the smell of this tea. First time I brewed a chinese green in my kyuusu... didn't get the amount right; will definitely need to add more leaf next time.

I'm drinking Nichinan Organic Black Mountain fuka from Wawaza. It is clean and fresh with a pleasant grassy flavor. I also have a Hinokage kamairicha, also from Wawaza, that I'll open in mid-June.

Hibikian Uji Cha Superior

Such a great tea for the $$$, perfect for people like me that burn alot a leaf a day. My average is about 4 grams per pot, 5-6 pots a day, and thats just my sencha habit! :D

Lu An Gua Pian from TeaSpring. It's a really nice light, floral tea; a complete contrast to the Lapsang Souchong I had yesterday!

Hitting up the Japanese greens, with Wakamastu no mukashi matcha and Kanro Gyokuro both from Ippodo.

Thank you I agree 100%, gorgeous! I had to have them once I laid eyes on them! Said to be 40yr old japanese copper chataku. Some of the nicest Ive seen. I actually sold the extras recently in tea swap. I kept two for me, all I really needed. I let the others go to a new home to be loved and used. :D http://www.teachat.com/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=15490

Recently I've been polishing off samples from OTTI 7 & 8. Finished up O-cha's Hatsumi, Den's Yame, and Maiko's Maruyama. They lost a bit of luster during these last few months but were still quite good, especially the Maruyama.

Just ordered 100g of Shincha Kinari from Maiko.

Had a quite large batch of Ippodo's Nichi getsu earlier, completely emptied my entire kettle of water after freshly filling it up.

A newly opened bag of Fujitsubo gyokuro from Tsuen/O-Cha. Really outstanding especially considering it costs less than 50 USD/100 grams!

Only went 6 steeps this time, each one sweet yet different, then enjoyed eating the leaves.

Thanks for posting the link to the photos of the chataku. Gorgeous. I had no idea they were copper.
