gg. i am trying to track down a scale. i gave my digital one away. all i have is a triple beam one at the studio. i 'll have to locate a scale asap and weigh the chawan. its a great idea i think. w/ the celadon pieces, more glaze is applied, causing a bit more weight, so the 'maker' needs to compensate w/ thickness of clay. the shino glaze is also 'heavy' too. i usually throw/make my shino intended pieces thinner to compensate for the weight of the glaze.

Great information, thanks! Honestly it never occurred to me to inquire about the weight until I did the comparison. Interesting stuff.

lovely oil spot tenmoku chawan ....very nice glaze ! and the teapot is nice too , soft shape and glaze are well together.
