I've just sampled this afternoon the shincha kirameki and the Aoi from O-Cha. I brewed both successively in a 100ml shiboridashi.
They were both enjoyable. I am looking forward to a huge cup of one of them tomorrow. I did the whole "I really like this one. No, I really like this one." thing. We shall see...

Re: What GREEN are you currently drinking?
I drank about half a pot of genmaicha from my local tea shop. It's like the chicken soup of teas...even though I overbrewed it a little, it was still awesome.

Today, a thermos full of Yunnan Mao Feng. Love this tea. Fruity, delicate, sweet, vegetal, and forgiving of poor brewing.

Re: What GREEN are you currently drinking?
Yesterday we had an Ippodo Gyokuro Karigane stem tea. My friend picked it up at Ippodo's in Kyoto September 2010.
It was quite a lovely thing to share.
This tea was a paradigm of umami.
Today on brew #3 it became much more floral/perfume-like.

+ 1 on the Aoi! Haven't had the shincha kirameki yet, however the Aoi from O-Cha is a very enjoyable tea, it has become a standard at our TeaTable.tortoise wrote:I've just sampled this afternoon the shincha kirameki and the Aoi from O-Cha. I brewed both successively in a 100ml shiboridashi.
Delightfully delicious YM from the O-C with Chip at the teatable this morning, moved on to Benifuki at work!
BioHorn, nice pictures. Gyokuro is my favorite 'special' tea, however it is far too precious to drink daily in our home!!! Yutaka Midori takes the prize for most fave!
Just shared some Yame yesterday w/Chip brewed up in a vintage gyo Hagi set.
Re: What GREEN are you currently drinking?
Now I'm back on Yutaka Midori Shincha from O-Cha. After two days of asamushi, a return to Fuka is nice. Such profoundly different teas.

Excellent to hear good news about the teas I just put in my first order from O-Cha!Mrs. Chip wrote:+ 1 on the Aoi! Nice pix, BioHorn. I have yet to try a tea from Ippodo that I don't like. Looks like I'm gonna need to include a bag of Gyo Karigane in my next order. I adore their higher end gyos, but don't drink them on a daily basis.
Currently on my 3rd pot of Ippodo genmaicha.

It's my first time contributing to this epic thread, so I hope I do this right!
I've been drinking Shincha Houryoku from Den's for the last couple days, and I'm really starting to get a feel for the tea. It's my first shincha, and the first tea I've tried that I've been able to get four or five solid steepings from. Really enjoying the fruity notes, and thick umami flavor!
I stepped outside to try and take a good shot of the second soupy cup in my coffee mug:

And here's a shot of the leaves after the fifth steeping (which was more yellow in color).

Yum!

My friend is a casual tea drinker. His contribution was a very nice surprise.

Re: What GREEN are you currently drinking?
I drank a whole pot of houjicha this morning. A nice toasty way to start a rainy Sunday.

Celebrating my final performance as Sgt. Trotter in a local production of
The Mousetrap (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mousetrap) with 7g of Kame in a 3oz shiboridashi, brewed at 60c and falling.
Excellent tea and glad this play is closing. Onward.

Kame is good for the soul! Still enjoying Fujitsubo from the O-C as well, and a few 50 gram bags of Kame await.
Also, I recently opened a bag of Yutaka Midori LE (maybe one of the last bags of the LE left in the West?). Anyway, 2010 vintage and it is still baggin'! So good. I recently had several other YM from a few vendors, this stuff is head and shoulders above the others. It is astounding and outstanding.
Also just opened a bag of Yama no Ocha Organic from Umami-Chaya ... 2010.
Re: What GREEN are you currently drinking?
I hope to taste something similar to the YM LE 2010 someday. Very sad it isn't available this year.
Very.
