Usually teaware takes a distant second place compared to tea leaves but in November last year I succumbed and bought a very pretty and tiny Jianshui teapot. Its capacity is only 55ml, good enough for me to drink pu'er on my own at home since my wife sips mostly Oolong teas.

Sorry but I very seldom drink oolong teas. My wife is the oolong drinker of the family and sometimes I share her tea for curiosity. Usually we steep and drink oolong teas on glass or porcelain to appreciate the more delicate nature of low to medium roast / oxidation oolongs as I am a pu'er tea drinker at heart .

I have a larger Jianshui pot on the way--around 175 ml. Jianshui pots are fired at near-zhuni temperatures, so it should be interesting to see how it performs!

Lately I've been experimenting more with using cups that have a much larger capacity than the pot. So far I'm really liking it. Here's some Yingde in a 70ml Novak pot and a ...larger... cup from Shawn. And of course a square of dark chocolate. Delicious.

I do this often, because otherwise some of my larger bowls would not get any use! For some teas, where I don't normally pack the teapot, I can put more tea in than usual, and increase the infusion time, and then dilute the concentrated tea with fresh hot water from the kettle.

Other times, grandpa style is the answer. This morning, I'm enjoying some 'Red' Alishan oolong from Norbu. I've found lightly oxidized Taiwanese mountain oolongs especially congenial for this brewing, but this is the first time I've tried this one so. And it is marvelous, enjoyed from a wonderful chawan from Shawn McGuire:





This bowl also sees use for fruit and other treats on occasion, being easy to clean completely, flavors don't carry over to the next tea session.

Me too! I used to be a small cups tea drinker until I recently attended a tea ceremony where tea was served in very large gaiwans (400cc+). I initially thought it was silly serving tea in such a large vessels....but I was so wrong. Now I only drink from a 200cc bizen smaller chawan just being purchased and have ordered a second one . Dunno why but the overall tea drinking experience is enhanced with the use of large cups, for some reason.

I wish I'd bought 10 times as much of it, as it does not fade with time.
