todays tea
outside is pouring rain. celadon matcha chawan w/kama
i put a small light inside the kama (steel pot) to make like there was a fire.

fun, rattle chalice
on the bottom is a sealed chamber w/ clay balls. assembled .
cone 10 soda fired.
i love making functional pieces w/ rattles.

Glad you could see the show Cory........... Handeishi-san is one of my favorites!
Interesting to note is his re-creation of the famous Iga mizusashi "Yabure bukuro", second photo from top. It highlights a difference between east and west as in the east one acceptable way of learning is to try and re-create, which is in a sense paying homage to, famous works from the past while in the west that is generally frowned upon.......

agreed. he had an amazing chashaku. handmade by him. wild ! its bent like a boomarang. WOW

lately been scanning a bunch of negatives, part of a long term project on seasons of japan.

fun aspect of tea in japan are the seasons.
wow.
this is ume (plum) blossoms at shinjuku gyoen (park) in tokyo.
the seasonal inspirations of flowers blooming influences my ceramic and photography too !

Those are stunning. I've been looking at chashaku online lately, the ones I have are the cheap $5 generic ones, and I'd love to have a nicer one, since it's a tool I use nearly every day.
(edited, because what is a "took"? lol I can't spell. Too much tea, I'm bouncing off the walks.)

sharing some intersting guinomi . i like to use them as test pieces.
the bottom middle piece was really interesting. i usually fire 4 pieces inside the exit flue of the kiln.
