Here is a Japanese English style set made by Kutani. It is part of a larger geisha lithopane set I splurged on for my birthday. (This may look like a coffee pot, but the coffee pot is even bigger, it's definitely for tea.) The sugar bowl is so big it looks like a casserole! Hahaha.

Re: Sunday TeaDay 4/17-18/10 English TEAPOT Extravaganza?
My first teapot was special, because a friend and I bought ours together, shopping in all the touristy and not-so-touristy shops in Chinatown and Japantown on a couple of day trips to San Francisco together. It took a while for me to find the 'right' one, and it served well for quite a long time, with my staple Ti Kuan Yin providing large pots of tea with the aid of a big tea ball. But I think it fell victim to knowing it had not been used for ages since I changed how I brew my tea (small, multiple infusions), so never found a place in the new house.

Yes, I own one. A plain white basic teapot with a bamboo handle. It's far far too big though, so I use it only for sangria
.
Oh today I'm going to brew the first teas on my new 50ml chao zhou. yey

Victoria, another gorgeous set. You really have a COLLECTION, I have a collection! ROF
The only one I'm really
over, though, is the gilded one!
I just brewed the Maestro Ali Shan Oolong - too green for me!
I'll be saving that one for the granddaughter's return! Then, I steeped a pot of the Maestro Anhui Keemun -- absolute perfection! I expect to get a couple of more steeps from that one.

Had a second steeping of the Anhui Keemun; a bit paler but just as good as the first steep. Very smooth, but brisk.
Brad, how small do you want your English style teapot???

That's kind of funny, because the other day I was looking at a child's tea set, eying the pot thinking that would be a nice size for gongfu.artmom wrote:Brad, how small do you want your English style teapot???

Hummm do glass teapots count? The big one should as it is from Adagio. And these pots do get use. I use the large one for company or when the family gathers and I use a candle warmer. The midsize is good for oolongs and the small is great for gongfu.

Victoria, those teapots are super! Love the varied teas (even the green one looks delicious
). Very sophisticated.

I did not realize you were so adventurous!artmom wrote:Chip, I love hot air balloons! Makes me think of Around The World In 80 Days, too. I was lucky to have an exciting ride in one (we almost landed in a rather deep farm pond!) but our balloonist was an expert. I love to see them soaring over the house in the spring and fall (our summers don't work out too well for them because of the thunderstorms).
You can see by the photo of the "natural" teapot why I'm now having second thoughts about which "collection" it belongs in!
Yes, hard to classify that pot. But it is so similar to decorative yixing in design, I would say Chinese influenced.
+1 Thanks for sharing.artmom wrote:Victoria, those teapots are super! Love the varied teas (even the green one looks delicious). Very sophisticated.
OK, last entry for me. I thought their was another one, but alas, cannot find it.
I don't know much about this set, it says Pearl on the bottom. Mrs. Chip picked it up around the time I started drinking tea. I think it was part of an estate sale.

Oh, this is still TD, began the TD with Gyokuro Kame from O-Cha. Jeez, great gyo. I think if I had it all the time I would not appreciate it so much, same thing with Yutaka Midori which I am reallly missing. SweeTea had her share while Kati, Wulong, and Precious visited the TeaTable.
Next up, Adagio TKY from the Maestro series. Very enjoyable! This is just really approachable and good.

Very interesting shaped teapot, Chip. It's definitely has an Asian feel about it; or is it an Aladin's lamp shape? The color is super.
Can't decide what to end my TeaDay with -- possibly I'll try the Maestro Pouchong.
Chip, I wasn't always a 70 year old granny, retired, and semi-disabled!!! You know, mine was the first rock 'n roll generation--motorcycles, black leather jackets, hot rods and beach buggies!
And through all of that, I always had afternoon tea!

Well, if you thought the earlier Maestro tea was too green, you will definitely find Pouchong one realllly GREEN.
Just revisiting this Maestro TKY after 4ish very enjoyable steeps earlier. Poured boiling water over it and it just bounced back to life. Good times!
Though not as wild as ArtMom's.

Chip, nice pot! Love the shape.
Almost looks like a stylized monogram "C".
Honestly of all my English/Western pots I use this
little $9 Adagio PersonaliTEA most often. It is very
versatile and keeps tea hot.
I saw an Etsy artist painting on one, I think one day
I may try that.
