There's an ancient expression:zemlemer wrote: Waiting for delivery...
"A watched Shincha order never gets delivered."
People are free to handle a shincha order however they wish, of course.
But may I suggest that if you forget you ever made the order that one morning you'll awake and be greeted by something marvelous and unexpected in your mailbox coming all the way from Japan.
What a glorious surprise it will be!
But having it on your mind, every day, leads to a slowing down of time.
Just a thought.

My Maiko order has shipped today. I did SAL shipping, so about two more weeks until it arrives. I wonder if my Yuukicha EMS late May harvest will beat it here.

Yeah, 100g of both of their shincha. Your Kinari recommendation and my wanting more of their gyokuro made me go for it.

Re: 2011 Official Shincha Ordering Topic
Just received my order from Shirakata Denshiro Shoten today -
It shipped from Japan on the 3rd, so it only took 3 days!
I got:
-Kunpu (88 nights asamushi)
-Houryoku (88 nights fukamushi)
And two special hashiris from artisan vendors (both asamushi)
As well as an Oolong produced in Shizuoka!
I will probably review (here or on Steepster)...

I have not been working on shincha for personal use hardly at all so far.
However, I have quietly been working more on 2 Shincha OTTI rounds that I hope to run concurrently, one for asa and one for fuka. So there will likely be 10 different shincha.

Hopefully this will be better yet. I have set a personal challenge to ensure 10 grams or more of each sample. Surprisingly this is not that easy of an adjustment considering this was the goal of each OTTI.

Hello!
I'm a very long-time lurker and first-time poster! So far I've put in orders for the Kinari from Maiko (usually like the fukas so I figured I'd go for something different based on the reviews on here) and the Fuga SP from Zencha.
Just wanted to let you all know that Ito-En is now taking orders for their Chiran Yutaka Midori Shincha. The Kagoshima shincha has previously been my absolute favorite (beating anything I've had from O-Cha, Zencha or Dens) when I was able to get it at their store in New York before it went out of business. Not sure if I'm allowed to link but it wouldn't be hard to find on the site. 40 or 50 dollars for 3 ounces for Superior or "Artisanal" varieties respectively...

Re: 2011 Official Shincha Ordering Topic
I've never had Ito-en's shincha, but $50 for 3oz is pretty expensive... (actually, so is $40). $50 is over $16/oz, which is pretty much up there with competition-grade teas. Seems a bit on the pricey side to me, but again, I haven't tried it, so I can't really make a good judgment.
