Does that indicate they lose more heat than porcelain? I've noticed my Yixing lid gets extremely hot.

I am delaying the packing of the teawares as long as I can, but next weekend they will go, leaving out probably just the little glass pot, my 'granite' cup, and one porcelain gaiwan until the great unpacking.... Not sure yet where they're even going to go in the new place. I really want something glass-fronted to keep them both visible, inaccessible to the cat, and protected from falling off the shelves in a minor earthquake, and need to conserve the cash reserves until move in is done....

I'm usually not a huge fan of Ikea, but a friend gave me this piece last Christmas to display my teaware, and it's worked out very nicely. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/produ ... #/10119206

My only complaint on it thus far? That it's not big enough for my ever-growing collection. But it keeps the cats away from my treasures, at least!

Ah, the DETOLF... loved by sci-fi geeks and tea geeks alike.

Much like my dad's knockoff Yixings, I noticed my good Yixing is taking the storage taste out of the first pu I bought. I brewed some up in a cheap Jingdezhen porcelain pot last night and the storage taste was overwhelming. I thought it had all dissipated due to the bag being left open.

I've been drinking almost exclusively out of the Yixing for around a week. I'll try some of the less funky pu in the porcelain pot today and let's see how it compares to being brewed in the Yixing.

EDIT:

After a few days of heavy sheng drinking (both young and old), I must say the difference between pu from the Yixing and pu from a gaiwan is staggering. The Yixing makes everything taste better, cleaner, smoother and less funky. It is just far more pleasant to drink from my little pot. :) It has a much more intense aroma to it too!
