All prices stated on multiple product pages on Origin Tea are by default the price for the lowest quantity offered. In the case of puerh, this is 25g. If you click on any particular product and visit their individual pages, you'll be able to see the quantities available.

What can you tell us about Factory 5? I know of the famous factory 1 of course and sometimes hear of pots from Factory 2 but it seems like many of the more recent pots are from Factory 5.

Factory 5 was established in 1987 and like Factory 3 and 4, not as well known as 1 and 2. What would you like to know about it?

1. What is the relationship, if any, of Factory 5 to any other factory?
2. Where are the clays for Factory 5 sourced from?
3. Are there any particular characteristics for which pots from Factory 5 are know for?
4. Is it possible to tell if a pot is from Factory 5 by looking at it?
5. How is Factory 5 organized? Is is centrally coordinated or is it a group of artisans who are each free to do their own thing?
6. Is Factory 5 still in business today?

It's not possible to tell all that much about any pot by just looking at it. As for the rest, the little that I know about Factory 5 are mostly passed on/second hand, so I think you'll find a historian more helpful and accurate than I am.

In the late 70's and 80's, Factory 1 was the center point of excellent work. The two brothers Xu Hantang and Xu Xiutang moved to factory #2 in the mid 80's and Factory #2 was producing beautiful teapots. 3 and 4 were producing mass market items like flower pots and so, Factory #5 in the late 1990's teapots were good. The large pieces like tables and stools and dragon jars were made in the Chunware factory.

i have a virtually identical pot to this, bought from one of the 'antiques' sites
not the same markings tho, also mine has no lidstamp
on the bay, cost was 0.01 cents, no other bids so thats what i was charged
well, i paid shipping i guess
really really 'friendly' pot, feels great in the hand

Similarity can mean everything and nothing.
Have you tried to
brew some water without leaves? Have you felt any difference?
This is just a test that I often try on new teapots.
