recently i posted a comparison on instagram... a used and unused shiggie... the used one is much darker and the particles seem to drop out a little. the pot is smoother, the lid against the pot is now smooth to turning.. used to be rough

What I forgot to say in my mentioning particle size was that probably during the sanding there would be a high chance of having small holes if large particles got knocked out, Thus the reason he left them.
kyarazen can you link me to this picture? sounds great! I know these pots season very fast.

As there's no small size (under 160ml) of Hojo's Shigaraki Kyusu available any more, I've looked and found this one:

I'm not sure whether this pot reacts to the tea as nice as Hojo's. Has anyone tried this one and compared to Hojo's?

That is listed as banjo made with "shigaraki-like" clay.
Hard to say how it will react, brew. One way to find out!

Honestly I'm really skeptical with this "Shiraki-type clay Banko-yaki". With this description I don't think I'll sacrifice my $80++ to find out. Asking people around seems to be more cost-effective.
I'm more inclined to spend money on "oversized" Hojo's Shigaraki at the moment. I normally brew sencha at 70-80ml. Maybe it's a good time to experiment whether there're any differences brewing 80ml and 160ml in a 220ml pot - one of those times when you make up all kind of reasons to justify your irrational desires.

I like the wood-fired hohin by Yoshimoto Atsuo. Good size, good clay, wabi type hohin. Excellent style.
