As far as I remember from an old post by wert, F1 used 1 cup = 15ml until the early '70s, and later 1 cup = 20ml. But for these EoT pots the 6 cups is 85ml.
plus minus.. because their catalog/brochure published in the 70-80s... the volumes are not in proper multiples!
the taiwanese still go by 20 ml strictly,

Most tea people i know in Malaysia and here do use the count of the old standard sizes - tiny: 2 cup, around 60-65 ml: 4 cup, 80-85 ml: 6 cup, etc

Seeems if a 65ml turns out 2-2.5 cups then an 85ml=2.5-3.5 cups! When you stuff it, that is going to make your soup much smaller!

65ml is considered 4 cups if I am not mistaken

I do usually use them to make tea for 1-2 people though.

Seems like those cup measurements are sans leaf...no way I could serve four people with a 65ml pot!

Here in Asia measuring pots, especially Shui Ping, has always been in the 2-cup, 4, cup, etc measurements. I only came across the ml measurement when Chinese tea made it to the internet, and it took me a while to get used to it.

Just noticed the newspaper these teapots was wrapped in came from Hong Kong. I had a weird feeling that would be the case before I went full-size...it just looked like the South China Morning Post the way it once was. Pretty cool.

I guess two of them are coming home!

Just for clarity - this batch of shui ping pots are around 40ml, 65ml and 85ml.
I'd eyeballed them as 2,4,6 cup, but I guess maybe 2 cup, 3 cup, 4 cup given the measurements

Alright so I know I just bought one of those pots from lukevecent on eBay, but I went ahead and bought that F1 hongni shuiping anyway. TAD is real, and so is the feeling of product scarcity.
I wonder what size it will be, since I see you guys talking about there being different sizes.
Edit: got an 85ml one

May I ask 2 questions :
1. Is the quality of EOT Factory No. 1 pots better than factory No. 5?
2. How do you compare the quality of EOT factory 1 & 5 teapots with the eBay seller, lukevecents'? Which is better?
Thank you!

1. Yes
2. No comparison. The factory one pots are much better than the modern pots sold on ebay. These pots on ebay are OK, usable, but i would rather spend the money on the factory 1 Shui Ping.
