It's worth getting it right! Just don't let the Hubby have any: keep it all for yourself. Tell him it's green mold on the tea.

if the 19$ pots are glazed on the inside, then they should not retain too much flavor in the walls with water rinsing afterwards ?

as for things growing, i haven't found any wet tea leaf that regularly grew fungus (i tried :P ) so i doubt anything will grow in the pot (considering that hands and tools are kept clean).

i think if a pot started to smell funky-moldy then i would pop it in the oven.

Tokoname artists seem to all release/finish their new art at the same time. Rishi stated they will have new pots in a few months. Seems like the realease coincides with new tea harvest. Seems like a good judgement to me

I was cleaning my kokoro today and noted how much stuff can collect under the screen.

Now I'm thinking the kokoro may be even better than similar pots with the 360° wrap-around screen inside just because it's possible to remove the kokoro's screen and clean that sucker out properly. :lol:

Start it in a cold oven and after the appropriate amount of time has elapsed, turn off the oven and let the pot cool down in it. It'll prevent thermal shock and the destruction of a good pot. Of course, a lot of ceramics are oven safe, but it wouldn't hurt to be cautious.

Hmmm, heard this somewhere before. :wink: The 360* screen still scares me a bit, but I did get one of these as part of a package and the cost was 10 bucks. I like the 360* screen function, but still get the willies thinking what evils lurk behind that screen. I would be totally freaked if I had a 360* in an unglazed pot.

I have several sesame and the SS spout version. I am not concerned about either. I rinse the heck out of them though.
