another frosting solution is to place it in with the silverware in the dishwasher. over time you'll get that effect.

I think we're forgetting the easiest way to frost a glass: the freezer.

Of course, you won't ever be able to take it out of the freezer if you want that frosting to be permanent, but that's beside the point.
