I hope to get a yixing pot upon moving, season it, then use it at the housewarming party. I can't wait to finally live in a place that has a real bedroom separate from the living room!

My nervous energy about work and apartment hunting probably isn't helped by drinking the teas I usually like, oolongs. Breakfast included a soy matcha shake. Maybe Wen Shan Baozhong with lunch.
On the contrary! Brew more oolong, drink, repeat; every few hours as necessary.
It's that soy matcha that has you on edge.

I'm joining this afternoon in some fine Baozhong at the moment myself.
Mmmmmmmmmmmm relaxing.

Good luck!

It's been a great day here! Spent the day w/a girlfriend who was in Africa during my bday. She brought me back a sugar bowl made of soapstone. It's very pretty (& heavy, too).

Plus the mailman was my friend today. One of the expected packages arrived while I was gone so OBO & Organic Monk's Blend are back in da house!!! Woo-Hoo! Included w/my order was a sample of White Tip Oolong so tea party tonight while hubby's away! Image

Still expecting 2 more packages. FedEx runs late here so there may be more happiness today.

Tenuki - even though I don't drink matcha, cool pics! :D

tenuki, sweet pics! I haven't brewed matcha for reals yet, but the pictures always make me drool a calm zen-like stream of drool.

It is a toss up for my favorite teapot material. I like my kyusu a lot, but I am also fond of glass. I was so enthralled with my glass gaiwan that I started brewing my morning teas in a large Pyrex measuring cup so I could watch the leaves.

Today, I have had two mugs of Oolong #8 and a mug of powdered sencha. More tea will come shortly as soon as I figure out which tea remotely goes with the sloppy joes we are having for dinner.

I had to vote clay because my two favorites are my kyusu and my first Yixing. I think ceramic would have to come next because I have so many sentimental pieces. I have a Murano glass set that I love to admire but have never used. We bought it on our honeymoon and I fear it will never actually have tea in it. So, as much as I love it, it couldn't go too high on my list.

Ironically, I'm using glass today. Hmmm.... Baochong. And our first day on the porch for the season. (We're slow this year!)

Looks more like a bodum pavina to me. I'd guess 9oz by the look of it.

I am in love with Tokoname clay. I have a kyusu that makes amazing sencha, and I have wonderful Tokoname teapot for my Chinese greens and white.

I don't have an YiXing yet. It is a bit confusing what to buy and what is real and what it not.

But I prefer bone china cups. It's my weakness really. There is something magical in their delicate look, when the glazes of the inside and outside nearly meet, and superior strength, stronger than clay, ceramic or porcelain.

Had Xu Fu Long Ya earlier today and now drinking Shincha Fukamushi. Great teaday here!

OK, I think enough attention has been given to the (admittedly beautiful) kyuusu, but I wanna talk about that thin-waisted, porcelain beauty. Is that the 120 ml Phoenix from Jing?

I almost ordered the Jing Phoenix earlier this week, but opted for the stupid Horse Series one. Their photo of the Phoenix is so awful that I got altogether the wrong impression of it. Your photo is a stunning portrait of a lovely gaiwan. If yours is indeed the Jing Phoenix, they are spectacular. Love the shape and phoenix pattern!

Will be busy kicking myself around the block this evening.

Sorry for flooding pics today folks. This is my new YiXing pot, I'm tasting my latest roasting experiment (A Shan Lin Xi that had been open for a year) before sending it off in the oolong box. :D

Turns out the FedEx man is my friend today, too!!! Sooo many teas not sure which one to try first. I have a mix of oolongs, blacks, & even some greens. Kids will be in the bed soon then it's mommy's turn to play!

Guess the mailman is saving the best package for last! :D

It is indeed the Jing Phoenix, though it's 90 mL, not 120. They used to have another phoenix gaiwan to match this cup; perhaps that was 120 mL?

You're right though, Jing's photo doesn't do it justice, but I decided to risk it anyway. And I'm glad I did, because it was love at first brew. It seems very well suited to oolong, and I love the lid handle--both it and the base have inner rims that are "cut" so they're rough and easy to grip.

Sorry for the small pic--there's a larger one here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/27778719@N04/2590723652/

And don't kick yourself too far around the block--I like the Horse Series! :)

I voted glass because I don't have anything else... just a nice glass teapot with a glass infuser basket... oh, and several of the "Perfect Teamaker" infusers from Teavana... 2 of the large ones and one of the smaller ones.

I used to only use those infusers... so handy... and then I remembered my nephew had gifted me a glass teapot for Christmas in one of those blooming tea kits. So, I got it out and have really enjoyed watching the leaves unfurl and the color develop.

I'm sure I'll buy other tea vessels... as soon as I figure out which are best suited for my needs.

BTW... you people are very drooly today. Ewwww.
