It makes me so melancholic to read this question. I was born in Southern California where the warmth of the sun shines everyday. It regenerates and gives power and love to all who feel it. (maybe not all, but I sure felt it!)
I now live in Milwaukee, WI. For three winters now I have had to endure in this order, snow, snow, snow, snow, sub zero temperatures, snow, snow, sub zero temperatures, snow. Do you guys get the picture?
I thank everything that is holy for tea that helps warm my soul.
Re: I MISS CALI!
I sympathize Susanna. Not to rub it in, but the golden rich quality of the light is something I do miss, and am glad for when I visit home. Except now if I don't get a touch of a NYC winter every year, I miss that too!Susana wrote:It makes me so melancholic to read this question. I was born in Jackson, MS moved to Honolulu, Hawaii when I was about 1 1/2< moved to Tennessee at 6, kentucky at 9, and back to Mississippi this fall for college, so full circle.
Missed my morning teaday, had some terrible bagged tea for lunch (good lunch though, local Lebanese restaurant, home cooked food there), and heading down for some Ginseng Green from Adagio in a little while. I know, I know, flavored tea... but I enjoy this one, and I don't have my good teas with me here, just a couple of well known things from Adagio and some Yunnan Jig. Better than last time I was here and only had lipton with me. I did notice that the lipton triangle bags seem to be nothing more than their regular bagged tea in a pyramid bag...

It's 890 miles from my door (front range Colorado) to my parents' door (Central Illinois). A couple of times a year I make that drive to be with family; they all still live in the area
I love Colorado, but miss Illinois (not the weather, though!), small farm town, slight roll to the land, full view of sunrises and sunsets, big yards, and no city lights to keep from seeing the stars.
Drinking Adagio's Vanilla Oolong today.

Actually, now that I've had a chance to listen to Eric Idle singing the Galaxy Song, I'm thinking my answer should actually have been "10000 miles or more." Purely in a galactic sense, of course.
And you can chalk that answer up to "free association" + "Chip's new cosmic-blue teabowl"

as I get ready to prepare matcha. I can't credit the matcha since I did not make it yet.
Earlier, Tenho Fukamushi organic from TJGTS, aka Yuuki-Cha.

Matcha Ceremony Grade Organic from Ryu Mei looked beeeeuuuuteeeful in the new bowl.
A chawan improves enjoyment of matcha exponentially I think. I used to use a ceral bowl when I started,
no wonder 40 grams lasted months back then. SweeTea seemed to agree.

Went right from matcha to Sencha Shin Ryoku from Den's. An interesting transition.
Another great TeaDay.
Genmai coming up ...
