Min Nan Oolong

by Herb_Master » Feb 3rd, '09, 18:11

The teapots I use for MinNan Oolongs. 12 In total -

10 by Wang Xiao Fei [From ChineseStyleCulture on Ebay]
These have A scene on one side and calligraphy on the other - I hope the names I have given them (taken from the Vendor's description) bear some resemblance to the Calligraphy. They are all made from Yellow Division Clay

1. The Tea Saint - 270ml

No Just gripped by collection fever! The early encounter with advice to have different pots for different types of tea enabled me to go completely overboard and buy one for each varietal.

I have calmed down now, with Fenghuang (15 dark brown pots) - it is 2 for each fragrance group 1 large and 1 small.

Wuyi many reddish brown light brown pots

Taiwan Green pots, Pouchong Blue.

Puerh Black Clay

Black Tea Ornate Pots and so on
Best wishes from Cheshire

This is why I use a gaiwan for most of the teas because I want to dedicate a pot for one tea only, I have only one yixing pot and I use it for Tie Guan Yin.

TIM - Nice pot, is that a cigar ashtray? Did you use it just for photos or do you drain your pot on it as shown, interesting!

Tim, did you make the lid tie yourself? Somewhere I have instructions for how to make one of those, but I have never quite decided if they are a good idea or a bad one.

The girl at Red Blossom did it for me. It's a very delicate art and my big fingers might ruin the act..... I do like to have it, if it is a day to day pot, because who knows when I will drop the lid.... again

I would be more likely to break it with it dangling around,
but it does look nice.
