A famous commercial Tie Luo Han
I don't know which because I can't read Chinese, and the shop that I bought it in did not speak English. [Jing Dian Teahouse, Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur]
A Nice tin with Wuyi Scenic Mountains on the cover, 12 paper wrapped cube packets of TLH inside.
Not as thick and full as the other TLH's I have had, maybe a mid oxidised mid rosted tea.
Fruity and warm up front. A suggestion of Autumn leaves on the first 2 infusions, minerals and a very faint hint of charcoal on the later infusions.
Packet has about 7 gms In a new 115 ml Zhuni, wash, 5, 5, 5, 10, 10, 18 seconds and still going well.

Gao Cong Shui Xian from JTS. 6g/90ml Zu Ni pot. Water temp: 208F. 10+ flash infusions.
Re: What Oolong are You Drinking Right Now?
I had a honey orchid "dancong" which from what I hear was most likely a fake. I wasn't disappointed in the taste and aroma though... I'm not sure how good a true dancong tastes, but this had a strong lychee aroma and a sweet (slightly astringent) coinciding flavor, it was quite enjoyable.

I would not assume a 'fake', but probably not gathered from the leaves of a single piece of tea shrubbery.rabbit wrote:I had a honey orchid "dancong" which from what I hear was most likely a fake.
Re: What Oolong are You Drinking Right Now?
3g houde roasted machine nantou + 4g unknown taiwan green hmt
adds good dimension to dominant roasted flavour for first 2 infusions, 3rd had the creaminess of hmt as the roast died down, 4th was more roast again, 5th was tea water
First two infusions I enjoyed more then if it was just the nantou by itself
Once the nantou started to weaken (as it does pretty fast), not that enjoyable
I would have rather drank the hmt by itself, but imagine if I broke this into 2-3 infusions it may work well, maybe tomorrow at work

Today, ChineseTeaCulture's 4th grade TGY, a prelim tasting for OTTI 6. About the 5th steep and it seems to be coming into its own.

Yeah, a pretty green oolong! No fire here! Which is a good thing for my tastes. Lovely aroma and liquor.Herb_Master wrote:Chip drinking Oolong- maybe one day you will see me in the Green Forum

Having a 2010 imperial anxi tgy. It's a lovely tea with the dry sent of apple blossoms and orchids. Light on the tongue, refreshing, smooth with a hay-like sweet aftertaste.

Fall Shan Lin Shi
This is some delicious stuff. It has characteristics that remind me of fall back home in northern Michigan, as well as the usual spring characteristics. I'm glad I jumped for the bag instead of the sample.

Tie Luo Han bought loose from Jing Yu Tong in Campbell Street, georgetown, Penang
7.5 gms in 114ml Zhuni
1st and 2nd Infusions both 15 seconds and uninspring, like a toned down version of DHP of middling quality at best.
Autumn hints, acceptable astringency, but slightly bitter or tannic.
Not upsetting but not enjoyable. Maybe too strongly infused.
3rd, 4th and 5th [15s 20s and 25s] - much better, a lighter sensation than I expect from TLH, but sweeter and nicely delicate, gentle Autumn warmth of Leaves, Earth and Mushrooms but perhaps [especially no 5] a tad too weakly infused.

Tei Guan Yin. So buttery and floral and smooth on the palette. I could drink this tea all day...
