Hello, hello.
Rested and rejuvenated greetings and salutations to you!
I am home now from wedding and honeymoon bliss, and I must say I do miss Hawaii and just getting up and snorkeling every morning.
But deeply fond images very much remain.
This morning's matcha (gosh it's good to have matcha - been 3 weeks without it!
) - is Wako, yummm!
The chawan was received as a wedding gift and was masterfully and lovingly wrought by Cory Lum.

Cheers.
May you be well.

Liking that Chawan Seeker!
Is that a Celedon Glaze of Sorts? It appears to already have some staining, or did it always look like that?

Hi Adam,
Thanks.
I believe it is a celadon glaze, but Cory has done something to get a reddish tone in the crackling. So no, that's not from use.
Cheers mate.
Here's another pic:

What a lovely wedding gift!
Yeah celadon glaze. I seem to recall iron or iron oxide is added to create the red crackling.
Nice to see you back in the chawan, Seeker!

Nice to have you back Seeker, you have been missed.
With matcha being more of a weekend thing for me,
I have not been inspired.

Re: Today's MatchaWan :D (new name, but tea's the same)
Here is my new Chawan from Splitfire Pottery. It is fantastic and I'm thrilled with it. I love how the glaze brings out the mountains, and the Shino interior brings out the color of the matcha.
The photo of the matcha looks weird. I got too much reflection in the bubbles, so the tea has a weird color to it. It's much darker green than it looks in the photo. I'm no photographer I guess. I should ask Geek Girl for help.

Beautiful chawan IPT - I agree - love how the mountains are highlighted!
Nice!
Thank you Victoria and others for your kind thoughts. I've missed you all too! Good to be back.
I too have a new chawan (well, a couple), so here's another.
Robert Fornell wrought this bowl.
The matcha this morning is Wako.

Cheers.
Welcome Monday (or whatever day it may be in your place on our planet).
May I move through this day and any of its challenges with conscious-calming-breath, patience, and as much humility, (and as little ego) as I can manage.
Cheers.

Thank you Seeker. I love Bill's work. He said he's going to make a Chawan with the mountains of Guilin (my home), on them. I'm really psyched about that.Seeker wrote:Beautiful chawan IPT - I agree - love how the mountains are highlighted!
That is a great new Chawan you have as well. You said you have several new Chawans? Can't wait to see photos.
Re: Today's MatchaWan :D (new name, but tea's the same)
Thanks IPT!
Yeah - well I guess not really 'several' only 3 new ones.
Here's the third. Wako matcha. Bowl by Fornell.

Cheers.
