That's right. Think of it as an Uji (nee Irish) Car Bomb.Stentor wrote:I've only ever blended mixed leaves of different senchas and brewed the blend but I have never mixed brewed teas. I have had some pretty cool results with that. I don't do it often however. I think Sae Midori leaf is good to blend with others, for instance.
Your method sounds interesting, though. I'm sure one could create quite an interesting flavor profile this way.
I'm gonna give it a shot next time I only have a few bits and pieces of a fukamushi and an asamushi left. The good thing is you won't have to compromise the way you do when you brew the leaves together.

Had some Dragonwell this morning. It wasn't too good, unfortunately. Have to get some better leaf.
Re: What GREEN are you currently drinking?
Today I decided to have a little Gyokuro Kin for memorial day. Was able to get four solid steeps out of it, with a good amount of umami & sweetness in the first two cups.

Yum!

Yum!

After a bowl full of Wakamatsu-no mukashi from Ippodo, I moved onto a gyokuro from ippodo. Sadly I forget which it was as it is no longer in its bag... I believe it was Kanro.
Both were/are absolutely delicious.

Working on my second pot of Gokujo genmaicha from Ippodo. This is one that I don't follow Ippodo's brewing instructions. I go with less-than-boiling water (~190F), and two 1 minute steeps. This gives me a good balance of genmai aroma, and bancha bite.

Recently opened Yume no Ukihashi gyokuro from O-Cha, purchased 4 different gyokuro from them. This is more gyo than I have ever had at one time.
Very smooth taste, lovely needles, beautiful gyo. A blend of "Gokou" and "Yabukita" breeds and is another Tsuen Teashop selection.
I might try the alternative brewing suggestions for this gyo, 1:1 for 2-2.5 minutes.

Uji shincha from Ippodo. Very tasty. The first few times I made it, I steeped the first infusion too long. Now I'm steeping much shorter, and it's delicious. Afterwards, I nibbled some of the spent leaves. Quite tender and fresh tasting!

I feel like I have to enlighten myself further on gyokuro when I've consumed all the shincha I got.
When it comes to gyokuro, I'm still quite "green", lol
