Re: What GREEN are you currently drinking?
Those leaves looks really interesting, bagua7... but it does not look like ShiFeng Longjing?
Re: What GREEN are you currently drinking?
Message edited. Got confused with the pinyin terminology.
However I want to compare the local purchase with the one I got from TeaSpring:

Almost identical, unless TeaSpring's is not real SFLJ.
So, how can you tell the real tea leaves?

Bagua7, The left is a mao feng from Zhejiang Province, similar to the image link above. The leaves are more needle like and narrow comparing to Teaspring one. ~ T

Re: What GREEN are you currently drinking?
Just opened 2010 organic Warashina Supreme from the O-C. Warashina teas from Shizuoka for 2011 are showing up "hot" and will likely not be seen for at least a year, at least not what we are used to seeing.
Too bad, as they are also an excellent source for organic asamushi.
I am anxious to see how this has held up.

Thanks, TIM. Very informative. If it were me, I wouldn't have purchased any longjing in China without the guidance of an expert fluent in Mandarin. There are scams everywhere surrounding this prized tea, especially the Shi Feng variety.

Gerard.

2011 Premium AAA grade pre-ming Shi Feng LongJing. Wider leaf base and fatter, with supporting buds.

Aoi asamushi and Yutaka Midori, both from O-Cha.
Both very good!

I never had sencha in an English teacup! I should give this a try.
This will be the first year that I have not had Kinari in 3 or so years. Looks sweet in the Petr-Yaki!Gargoyle... wrote:Starting the day with some shincha Kinari and playing with new toys.

I just opened a pouch of O-Cha's 2010 Chiran sencha. Much more my speed than the Yutaka Midori, though I like both. Good-quality green tea is easier on a stomach weakened by antibiotics than straight water.

Thin porcelain always returns as my favorite cup material for green tea whenever I do any comparison testing. It simply gives the best enhancement to the flavor, in my experience. Since I have only one cup and one pot available, I like the English-style cup that holds the entire contents of the pot.
Below is my current travel tea kit, which is also the view on my sickbed at the moment. The pot is the little Den's Tea baby -- I remember asking you what to use it for when it came in a lot with some other pots. I was a bit puzzled, because I was in the mode of matching the perfect pot to each individual tea and I wasn't sure what to make of glazed white clay that wasn't porcelain. Right before my period of travel started, I broke my little banko houhin, so I packed the Den's pot in its place, and I've been pleased with it as a general-purpose pot. It will never be my first choice for fukamushi because I prefer a metal mesh filter for that, but when you can only have one pot with you, this one works well.

Genmaicha! I had never had it before today and I LOVE it!
Re: What GREEN are you currently drinking?
Having the last of my Aoi Shincha. Trying to decide which of my teas and teaware I will bring with me to my parents house while I spend the second half of summer there.
